Assuring the well prepared CAT 2015 aspirants and advising them not to worry and come out of feeling of negativity Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay convener CAT 2015 and faculty at IIM Ahmedabad shares the last minute tip for the benefit of aspirants “if you are good at basics you don't need to worry, you need to do well in all the sections.”

CAT 2015 aspirants who have prepared well and have prepared on very advanced topics in each of the 3 sections, should understand that they need to revise and update their basics in next 2 days to crack this most coveted exam.

CAT 2015 going to be held on Nov 29, 2015, is designed on a new pattern and many questions in it are expected to have moderate difficulty level as they are introduced for the first time. Prof S K Agarwal, mentor on CAT preparation shares that in all probability candidates will enjoy taking the CAT 2015 test, if they are good at basics, have conceptual clarity and have prepared and practiced well.

Conceptual clarity
During next 2 days, candidates should focus on revising the fundamentals of various topics on Arithmatic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, PnC, Modern Math. Questions on Data Interpretation may be more calculation intensive. Instead of increasing the speed of calculation it will be better to have clarity of concept and formula on which the questions are based. There is no time left to begin anything new. The on screen calculator will help you complete your calculations of all the type.

Brush up your basics
The questions in Logical Reasoning are also expected to be based on the core topics of team formation, family tree, sets, direction sense, seating arrangement, rows among others. You need to see whether you have well developed your natural logical instincts. Instead of going to a higher level, make sure that you have complete clarity on your basics.

VARC needs good reading speed
Reading, understanding and then solving the question accurately are the 3 steps to improve, synchronize and balance the speed with accuracy to attempt CAT 2015 whether it is MCQ or non-MCQ. Every question you attempt needs to be solved first to arrive at the right answer option or to write the answer on computer screen.

You are supposed to cope with the proportionate time per question and this is only possible by improving the speed to read, understand and attempt the question. If you are able to read the sentences, paragraphs, parajumbles, Reading comprehension passages faster and understand them, you will be able to solve them quickly.

The increased number of RC passages from 4 to 5 with 70% coverage of VARC section is expected to have moderate passages with more direct questions instead of more indirect ones. The focus of CAT 2015 is more on increasing the academic diversity in IIM class rooms and testing the candidates at requisite standard, instead of putting them to a test fit for professors only.

The more important is to ensure that you remain cool and calm before the exam and update yourself with what you have already learned. Avoid increasing your anxiety level. There is no point why you should feel nervous and have any negative feeling before the exam. Be positive, remain motivated as Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay Convener CAT 2015 advises not to worry if your basics are good .
