The Times Group (www.timesofindia.com):
The Times Group is the largest media services conglomerate in India is owned and managed by Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd (The Times Group), which is a family business controlled by Samir Jain and Vineet Jain.
The flagship paper “The Times of India” has the widest circulation of over 3.14 million that makes it the world's largest selling English-language daily newspaper. It is the most widely read English newspaper in India with a readership of 13.3 million.
According to COM Score, TOI Online is the world's most-visited newspaper website with 159 million page views in May 2009, ahead of the New York Times, The Sun, Washington Post, Daily Mail and USA Today websites.
It also publishes The Economic Times, Mumbai Mirror, the Navbharat Times, the Maharashtra Times. It has an FM channel, Radio Mirchi, and television channels like Times Now & ET Now. The Times Group and BBC Worldwide Group joint venture brings to its audience magazines like Femina, Filmfare, Hello, Top Gear, Femina-Hindi, What to Wear, Grazia and Lonely Planet. The “ET NOW” business news channel was launched in 2009 by the Times Group.
HT Media Limited (HTML) (www.hindustantimes.com):
It is one of the largest media companies in India. Founded in 1924, its flagship newspaper, the Hindustan Times, one of the leading English dailies in the country.
The Hindustan Times (English) and Hindustan (Hindi) have a combined daily circulation of 16.2 million and a readership of 33.47 million. The company has recently also forayed into radio through the FM channel, Fever 104.
In February 2007, HTML launched a business paper, Mint, that has a content-sharing tie up with The Wall Street Journal. HT Media acquired social network, ‘Desimartini’ in November 2007. HT Media launched its innovative job portal ‘Shine.com’ in June 2008.
The ABP Group (www.abp.in):
The Kolkata-based ABP Group has evolved into a conglomerate that has 12 premier publications including the business magazine, ‘Business world’, the English language daily, ‘The Telegraph’, the Bengali daily, ‘Anandabazar Patrika’ ,three 24-hour national news channels, two leading book publishers, and several mobile and Internet properties.
The group has recently added films, telecom and new media content production to its bouquet. ABP and Time Warner also entered in a deal to launch Indian edition of Fortune, the world’s leading business magazine.
