If interviews don’t make you nervous, then you are lucky. But, frankly speaking it’s normal to be a little nervous before an interview. It’s like going on a date for the first time. There’s hardly anybody who doesn’t feel those fluttering sensations in stomach before an interview.
The trick is to do a little homework. Consider it to be a normal conversation with another person. The worst consequence of an interview can be that you are rejected. But, how does that matter. Maybe, it wasn’t the right job for you in anyway.
Take a deep breath and exhale quietly through your mouth. It’s a must-do relaxation technique before an interview. Have a sound sleep in the night before your interview, and take a warm oil bath in the morning of the interview to keep your mind and body relaxed. Like any other normal day, opt for heavy breakfast that can keep you full for a long time. If you are unnaturally nervous for an interview, then you can take some doctor prescribed tonic to keep you stress free.
On arrival to the venue in case you need to wait for quite sometime and the nervousness makes you unstable, go to the washroom and run cold water on your wrists and dab behind the ears. This has a very refreshing effect on your body as the arteries in these portions of your body are closer to the surface, and literally cools the blood.
We tend to stress ourselves further by rereading job descriptions or brushing up our domain knowledge before an interview. Instead, it’s a good idea to recall the smiling face of someone we love - visualize a smiling photo of your loved one.
After the interview, instead of dwelling on what you have said and what you haven’t, stay relaxed. Do something you love to do – may it be sipping on brewing coffee, going for a basketball match, or watching your favorite movie. Consider interview to be a normal phenomenon of your life. The normalcy on your face projects you as a confident person.
