About the Exam
Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the owner of GMAT exam acquired NMAT 2015 and all subsequent year NMATs which would be the entrance exam for admission to flagship MBA programme at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), in the month of March 2015 and have renamed it ‘NMAT by GMAC’ with the goal to globalize the Indian Management Education. Apart from NMIMS, 19 other institutes will also accept NMAT by GMAC scores for admission to MBA/PGDM 2017-19 programme.

The NMAT by GMAC 2016 is conducted as an online exam in 75 days testing window from October 7 to December 20, 2016. It is a computer based objective type multiple-choice test.

The NMAT by GMAC 2016 exam has 3 sections – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. It is a computer-delivered exam and gives each candidate a randomly generated test from a pool of questions, delivered one-at-a-time. The number of questions, difficulty levels, and the time limit for each of the sections is predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, are the same regardless of when and where the test is administered. Candidates have a choice of selecting the order/sequence of the test sections.

NMAT by GMAC 2017 Eligibility
To be eligible for NMAT by GMAC 2016, a candidate should know the eligibility criteria of the B-school where he/she wants to apply. The eligibility criteria to appear in NMAT by GMAC have not been separately specified. For example anyone with recognized bachelor’s degree below or above 50% marks can register for NMAT by GMAC 2016. But if the particular B-school needs minimum 50% marks in graduation, it will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she is eligible to be considered for admission.

According to instructions for NMAT by GMAC 2016 “All test takers who complete the Test Registration process pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published NMAT by GMAC exam terms and conditions may sit for the NMAT by GMAC exam. It is the responsibility of the test taker to understand the eligibility requirements of all the universities and schools to which he/she is interested in applying before registering for NMAT by GMAC exam. If the test taker registers for the test and then determine that he/she is ineligible for admission to the desired program, no test fee refund will be made. For the eligibility requirements, test takers are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.”
NMAT by GMAC Exam Pattern
NMAT by GMAC exam is divided in 3 sections. The 3 sections in NMAT by GMAC 2016 exam – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning are individually timed. The exam is computer based test. Questions are proposed to be in MCQ format. In total there will be 120 questions. Test takers must answer questions and review answers of each section within the allotted time. Test takers must review their answers before moving to another section of the exam, as once the candidate closes out of a section, all answers are final.

NMAT by GMAC Exam 2017 Syllabus
Syllabus for NMAT by GMAC remains almost the same as used to be for NMAT till 2014. Following are the major topics to be covered in each section.

Language Skills
The coverage of topics in this section will be to test Reading comprehension, verbal ability and English language skills. Major topics to prepare for this section are – Correction of grammatical errors; syntax; Vocabulary usage; Antonyms; Synonyms; idioms; Fill in the blanks; sentence corrections and usage; Usage on Parts of speech; tenses; conditionals; jumbled sentences; Reading comprehension passages; Phrasal verbs among others.

Quantitative Skills
Test takers are to attempt questions based on Data Analysis, Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation as well as on various topics on Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Mensuration, solid Geometry, modern Maths among others. Key topics to be prepared are Average, percentage, Bar graph, Coordinate Geometry, Line graph, Modern Math, Mixture & Solution /Alligations, Number Systems, Pie chart, Probability, Permutations and Combinations, 2D and 3D Geometry, Statistics, Algebra (Linear/Quadratic Equation), Mensuration, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Ratio/Proportion, Simple/Compound interest, Time-Speed-Distance, Trigonometry, Tables among others.

Logical Reasoning
Questions in this section are based on Analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, critical reasoning, series completion. Major topics covered in this section are calendars, Arrangement, Blood Relations, Coding & Decoding, Course of Action, Critical Reasoning, Family tree, Puzzles, Syllogisms, Statement Conclusions, Strong and weak Arguments.
