Personal Interview (PI)

After the 1st stage shortlisting on the basis of your written exam score, all the B-schools including IIMS, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMR, MDI among others conduct Personal Interview (PI) round as final selection round for admission. The PI round is the test of your verbal communication skill, presence of mind and how do you present your views and knowledge skillfully to convince others.

 

Apart from the one to one personal interaction session of 10-20 minutes, the PI round at B-schools may consist of other different components also. This may include GD, WAT, Extempore speech, Group Interview, group exercise, psychometric tests among others. However, every B-school conducts the Personal Interaction (PI). There will be 3-4 panelists who will be experts and will be asking questions to you on your academics, work experience, current affairs, social issues, about your personality, your native place, on technical issues related to your academics and work place. The personal interview is tried to be kept healthy, positive and less stressful. You are encouraged to remain what you are and it is tried that during the course of discussion, you should not feel nervous.

Personal Interview: Questions & Answers

Personal Interview round at IIMs or any other top B-school may have a duration of 8 to 30 minutes depending upon how interesting you are during the process. PI is awarded highest weightage in final selection round. The PI round tests you on your one to one communication skill along with your attitude, interest in surrounding events and way of presentation. Any bluff during PI round can throw you out of the fray.
