My exam prep strategy, experience & Advice:

For the benefit of MBA aspirants, MBAUniverse.com asked Vinay Chhalotre about his preparation strategy and advice to do well in MBA entrance exams. Details follow:

MBAUniverse.com: What was your overall preparation strategy for the exam?

Vinay Chhalotre: I joined time and then whatever time I got I used to solve the material given by time and 1 month before the exam I started solving mock test everyday and then used to analyse it

MBAUniverse.com: How did you prepare for IRMASAT? Please share your strategy? How much did you score in it?

Vinay Chhalotre: I actually took help of my brother. I used his GK notes. I was giving interviews of different MBA colleges and with that I took time to study those notes everyday. I scored 29.5 in IRMASAT.

MBAUniverse.com: What would you suggest to IRMA aspirants to prepare for IRMASAT 2018?

Vinay Chhalotre: Try to read current affairs for 15 min daily and take notes of what you find important. Focus on govt. Policies.

MBAUniverse.com: Was there any particular section that you were weak at? How did you overcome this challenge?

Vinay Chhalotre: I was weak in VARC. I devoted more time for that and tried to solve more and more RC’s and also started reading books to increase my comprehension ability and also my reading speed.

MBAUniverse.com: How can candidates use Mock tests better? What is your advice?

Vinay Chhalotre: Try to start taking the mocks 2 months before the exam and also analyse the mock on the same day. It will help you to know how to approach a particular kind of problem.

MBAUniverse.com: Did you go to offline coaching centre? What role does a coaching centre play?

Vinay Chhalotre: Yes I joined Time Bhopal. It helps you to make you regular in your studies. It helps you to set achievable study tasks for the day. If you face any difficulty you can always consult the tutors who are more than happy to help you.

MBAUniverse.com: Which institutes did you apply for admission and which institutes offered you admission?

Vinay Chhalotre: I got admission in SIIB, IMT Nagpur, KJ somaiya, IRMA, GIM Goa, IIFM Bhopal.

MBAUniverse.com: Which B-school you decided upon and why?

Vinay Chhalotre: I chose IRMA because firstly Irma offers you a management degree in Rural management which is different from General Management. Secondly it offers one of a kind experience with an exposure and opportunity to live in rural parts of India which teaches you so much outside the classroom. I also think that there is so much opportunity in rural India which is still untapped and so much can be done.

MBAUniverse.com: Any message you would like to share with the candidates preparing for the top MBA entrance exams and for IRMASAT 2018?

Vinay Chhalotre (CAT topper): Study well and don’t take too much pressure. If you remain calm during the exam you will definitely score better.
