Q: Hi Dr Venkat, I have completed my B.Tech in Information Technology in April, 2004 & I have been working in IT sector from June, 2004. I want to go for MBA through Distance Education. Could you please suggest me which course in MBA would add value to my resume? Also could you please suggest me some of the best institutes of distance learning. Thanks Bharati, (Hyderabad, India)A: In distance education the prospects for career growth remain distant in India. Learn to take risk and go for good full tee course.Q: Dear sir, I want to know about the top Institute names that offers MBA in Finance for one year in correspondence. Thank you sir satyam, (patna)A: I rate IGNOU and AIMA among the better (not certainly top from career point of view) institutions for MBA and PGDM respectively.Q: Hi Dr Venkat, My Name is Amit Sharma. I am a graduate. I completed my BBA last year with 63% marks and after that was preparing for CAT. Though I didn’t made any mark in CAT I gave other tests also. I scored 95 percentiles in December 2007's MAT test. Could you please advice me on what colleges to apply for on MAT basis. I applied to Christ College, Bangalore but didn’t go through it. What other options do I hold? I don’t want to waste my year. I have also applied to Amity Business School, Noida for MBA-IB programme. Could you also tell me about options abroad for doing MBA (Canada or Australia or US) Amit Sharma, (Delhi)A: Since you are young do not be desperate. Do not go abroad straight after graduation. You will not get admission in A grade universities there. Work for a year or two, work hard on CAT or GMAT and pursue MBA later.Q: Hello sir, I am a Software Engineer having 2.5 years of IT experience. I have been shortlisted for IMT Ghaziabad Marketing course. Will it be worth a bet? Please suggest should I join? Or shall I appear for CAT next year. How will you rate IMT amongst the other B-schools? (Especially MDI) in all respects. Will be very obliged to have your answer. Thanks in advance!! manish, (Jabalpur)A: Yes, of course. IMT has a good image among employers and placement record is fairly good.Q: Respected sir, I am going to complete my B.Tech (ECE) from ICFAI Hyderabad in May-08. I want to do MBA after my B.Tech. I appeared in CAT 2007 and on the basis of this I got offer from BIMTECH, Greater Noida in two year PGDM (IB) regular course. Sir, regarding this please clarify the following points:
1. Should I start the course in continuation of my B.Tech degree
2. Will B.Tech & PGDM (IB) will be a good combination.
3. What will be placement chances in terms of probable companies and pay package.
I am maintaining average 70-75% till date. Right now having no other option for MBA admission. Not very much optimistic whether that I may switch to study after getting work experience of few years. That is the reason wanted to do MBA in continuation. Please guide and advise me. saurabh gupta, (hyderabad)A: Yes, BIMTECH is a good institution.
Yes, IB will be a good combination. Why not if it interests you.
Fairly good. Satisfaction is a function of expectation. Since you are not an IIMA student you should not expect the average salary of an IIMA student.
Take admission. MBA is becoming costlier as years pass. The demand for MBA is at its peak now.Dr C S Venkata Ratnam is a leading management expert with decades of experience in teaching and consulting.
