No one gets exact 100 percentile in XAT

XAT 2018 would not award exact 100 percentile even to the highest scorer in the exam. The score in XAT is ranked at 99.9+ percentile. As per the different percentile calculation method in XAT 2018 no candidate scores 100 percentile.  According to XAT official, “Our percentile calculation is slightly different and the topper does not score hundred percentile.”

No Negative percentile given

XAT also does not award negative percentile. According to XAT official “All students get positive percentiles (There is no possibility of negative percentile)”.  It means that no candidate can get negative scores as per the score normalization process adopted in XAT 2018.

Scoring pattern in XAT 2018

XAT 2018 exam is divided in 2 parts and has to be attempted in 210 minutes. After getting into online computerised testing mode, all the 5 sections in XAT 2018 are clubbed into a single exam whether they are counted for percentile calculation or not.

There are 3 sections in XAT 2018 which will determine your percentile. All these three sections carry negative marking of 1/4 . There is no negative marking for section-4 and 5.

The first part with 3 sections in XAT 2018 has 72 questions and had to be attempted in overall time limit. All the questions were in Multiple Choice form (MCQs). Answers to these 72 questions are taken into account to calculate the sectional as well as the overall percentile score.  The correct answer to each of these 72 questions carries a score of one mark and wrong answer attracts the penalty of 1/4 negative mark.
