Panjab University has been imparting quality education since its inception in 1882 at Lahore, which was relocated to Chandigarh in 1956. Faculty of Business Management & Commerce, Panjab University, in its golden jubilee year 2008-09, launched another reputed Institute, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS).

UIAMS Chandigarh offers two-year MBA course in sectoral areas namely: MBA (Retail Management); MBA (Banking & Insurance Mgt); MBA (Capital Markets); MBA (IT & Telecommunication Mgt); MBA (Infrastructural Management); MBA (Pharmaceutical Management); MBA (Hospital Management).. The curriculum for MBA sectoral consists of 70 per cent management and 30 per cent industry sector specific inputs. Professor Nishi Sharma is the Director of UIAMS.
