I have scored 100 percentile in CMAT 2016 and scored 300 out of 400 marks. I also cracked CAT 2015 with 96 percentile; SNAP 2015 with 94 percentile and MAT with 98 percentile.

My preparation strategy was to take more Mocks and I attribute my success in maiden CMAT attempt to the strategy of taking more CMAT Mocks and taking them quite seriously during the preparation journey.

I also studied from online material and joined a crash course with a coaching institute. I took maximum number of mock tests. In my view Mock tests can help you more even if you are not very well prepared for the exam.

My advice to CMAT aspirants is that they should take as many mocks as possible. This will make the aspirant a strong candidate to face the competition.

My exam prep strategy, experience & Advice

For the benefit of MBA aspirants, Jugad Singh Grewal shares about his preparation strategy and advice to do well in MBA entrance exams. Details follow

Son of a farmer, I have seen my father toiling in the fields. I wanted to be a manager and climb the corporate ladder high. At present I am yet to be of 20 years of age. My sister is an inspiration for me. She is also an MBA and working. She helped me plan my preparation strategy when I felt depressed after the CAT 2015 result was out and I scored low at 64 percentile in CAT.

I was under a tremendous pressure to perform well and would study for hours at a stretch.

After the CAT result, it took me some time to reconcile and my sister helped me out by encouraging me and making me fill up the CMAT form.

I decided not to cram my head with too much studies and took stress free approach in CMAT preparation. I spent around 4 hours a day to prepare for CMAT but made it a point to keep abreast with GK.

My favourite choice of higher education institutes are KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, Mumbai and the Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education, Mumbai.

I was surprised to see my results and couldn’t believe my eyes that I scored 99.99 percentile and have stood 2nd in the All India merit.

To prepare well for the exam, I enrolled myself with IMS Coaching in Ludhiana and studied well from the notes and study material provided by them. I made sure to prepare GK along with other sections. GK in CMAT plays very important role.

The 2 things that I have learnt during MBA entrance preparation journey and would advise the MBA aspirants also are that one should never be overconfident and must not get under too much stress. You may get a negative impact by both these elements.

Another key point, the CMAT aspirants should note is to keep an eye for GK as General Knowledge is an important part in this exam, so prepare for it right from the beginning along with your other sections.
