IMC Timelines & Evolution:

The Journey of IMC reflects the challenges and reorientation of Indian management education in the last decade.

After two decades of heady growth, since 2008 Indian MBA education has been facing unprecedented challenges. While there isn't an existential question on the Top-tier B-schools, they are yet to make a global impact. Stakeholders have been questioning the value of mid-tier and bottom-tier B-schools. In this backdrop, a serious platform to discuss the impact of massive changes impacting management education in India was missing. To fill this void, MBAUniverse.com conceptualized and organized first Indian Management Conclave (IMC) in 2010.

After its launch in 2010, IMC gained momentum with world class speakers & cutting edge themes in 2011. At IMC 2012, our MBA Employability survey was released and widely quoted by Media. It drew the attention of policy makers & stakeholders towards the crisis facing Indian management education. From 2013, IMC shifted its focus from 'Problems' to 'Solutions', by choosing themes, and taking initiatives, that help build competitiveness. IMC Awards for Excellence in Management Education was launched at IMC 2013, to identify, document and recognize the best practices and successful initiatives undertaken by Indian B-schools.

At IMC 2014, we released the EPSI-MBAUniverse.com whitepaper titled ‘Vision 2025 for Indian Management Education’. Based on this document and discussions at IMC 2014 conference, a book titled 'Envisioning the Future of Indian Management Education' was published by McGraw Hill.

Hosted by ISB at its iconic Hyderabad campus, IMC 2015 focused on the theme of Enhancing B-school Competitiveness. Two new initiatives - IMC Distinguished Alumni Awards (IMC DAA) and IMC Faculty Workshop - were initiated at IMC 2015.

7th IMC 2016, held at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), focused on the theme of nurturing Institutional Leadership in B-schools. Pearson has published IMC 2015 and 2016 Conference Proceedings.

8th IMC 2017 was held at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIML) at its Noida campus on the theme of ‘MBA Curriculum for New Era’.

9th Indian Management Conclave will be held at IIM Bangalore, the Host and Knowledge Partner for IMC 2018.
