TISS NET 2024: Exam Cancelled; TISS to Accept CAT 2023 and CUET (PG) 2024 Score; Check Key Details, Impact on Admission Process, Options Available

 

The present TISSNET will not be conducted any more as per the notification released by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for admission 2024 onwards. After Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has cancelled its own PG entrance exam TISSNET 2024 for admission 2024 and has made CAT 2023 and CUET PG 2024 exams mandatory for Admission 2024 to various PG programmes, TISS aspirants are worried about other options as the CAT registration is already closed. TISS Admission 2024: No TISSNET

  • TISSNET 2024 has been cancelled by Tata Institute of Social Sciences
  • Now CAT 2023 is Mandatory Exam for M.A. (HRM & LR), M.A. (ODCL) Admission 2024
  • CUET (PG) 2024 is the Mandatory Exam for Admission 2024 in other PG programs
  • TISS Aspirants to appear in CAT 2023 or CUET PG and apply separately for TISS Admission
  • TISS Applications for Admission 2024 likely to Open in December 2023

In its notification dated November 14, 2023, Tata Institute of Social Sciences has clarified, “The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), has decided that admission for the forthcoming Academic Session 2024-25 for all its Postgraduate Programmes will be based on the CUET (PG)-2024 scores, except for the following programmes, which will consider CAT scores.

  • Master of Arts in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations
  • Master of Arts in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership

All additional details, updates, and notifications, as applicable, will soon be accessible on the Institute's admissions website.”

TISS NET 2024 Pattern: Sectional composition, Key Changes, Weightage

 

TISS NET 2024 expected exam date is January 21, 2024. The exam duration is 100 minutes from 2 PM to 3.40 PM and will be a computer based test. Many changes are made in TISS NET 2024 exam pattern. Tata Institute of Social Sciences has not announced to conduct additional types of exams TISMAT/TISSPAT of 45 minutes duration which were held earlier, for M.A. Admission 2024.

 

TISSNET offers admission to various management programmes at different campuses of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISSNET 2024 will be an online CBT exam comprising MCQ type questions. This year candidates may not need to appear in TISSMAT and TISSPAT before Online Assessment round.

TISS NET 2024 Exam Pattern 

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts TISS NET in 40 centres located in different parts of the country. There are 100 questions in MCQ format in TISSNET 2024. The duration of the test is also 100 minutes. Candidates get +1 mark for every correct answer. There is no negative marking in TISSNET 2024 for wrong answers. The exam is of 100 marks.

TISSNET 2024: Key Changes

  • Online Computer Based test
  • All questions are of MCQ type
  • TISSNET 2024 exam will not have any negative marking question
  • TISSNET 2024 exam will have a single question paper for all the M.A. programs
  • There will be 100 questions for a duration of 100 minutes in TISSNET 2024
  • TISSNET 2024 scoring pattern is changed. General Awareness Section has 40 marks; English Proficiency has 30 marks; Maths and Logical Reasoning section carries 30 marks
  • TISSNET 2024 score will be taken into account for preparing the final merit list for selection with a weightage of 50%.

TISSNET 2024: Sectional Cut offs

  • No sectional cut off for English Proficiency and Mathematics & Logical Reasoning Sections
  • Sectional cut off for General Awareness (GA) is applied for qualifying the TISS-NET exam.
  • Candidate not scoring minimum cut-off mark for the General Awareness as shared below will not be qualified for TISS NET irrespective of the aggregate score obtained by them

GK in TISSNET: Very Important Section

TISS NET paper gives enough opportunities to score in the Verbal and RC area as well as in the Mathematics, Data Interpretation and Logical Ability area. However, the area on General Knowledge and Current Affairs is usually the deciding factor for the cut off. Highest cut off is applied for MA in HRM & LR in TISSNET and goes in the range of 65 to 69.

The Discontinued TISSMAT & TISSPAT: Earlier Weightage was High

After conducting the main TISSNET exam, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) used to conduct TISSMAT and TISSPAT before final selection round to its various M.A. programmes. However, these exams have been discontinued now and will not be Conducted for Admission 2024.

 

TISS offers more than 50 Masters programs at its different campuses. Among these are flagship MA (HRM & LR) and MA (ODCL) which are most sought after masters programs. Earlier TISS conducted TISSMAT and TISSPAT only for the shortlisted candidates.  Brief details of the TISSMAT and TISSPAT exams for information, are shared below:

 

TISSMAT: Will Not be held in 2024: The candidates applying for the MA Human Resource Management & Labour Relations (HRM & LR) and MA Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) offered by TISS at its Mumbai Campus also had to appear in a Management Aptitude Test (TISS-MAT) conducted before PI round after TISS-NET result was declared and shortlist was announced.

 

TISSMAT was of 50 marks for a duration of 45 minutes. The score for TISS MAT had a weightage while preparing the final merit list for admission. 

 

The TISS Management Aptitude Test (MAT) was conducted only for the shortlisted candidates for MA (HRM) and MA (ODCL).

 

TISSPAT: Will Not be held in 2024: The candidates applying for all other MA programmes offered by TISS at its Mumbai and other Campuses also had to appear in TISS Programme Aptitude Test (TISSPAT) conducted before PI round after TISS-NET result was declared and shortlist was announced for each MA programme separately.

 

TISSPAT was of 50 marks for a duration of 45 minutes. The score for TISS PAT had a weightage while preparing the final score for the selection. 

 

The TISSPAT was conducted only for the shortlisted candidates for MA programmes

TISSMAT: Role in Final Selection Process- Will not be conducted in 2024

  • The TISS-MAT is a combination of both computer based MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and descriptive writing for a duration of 45 minutes.
  • TISS-MAT Score was considered along with the  final selection process and thus was considered only for those who are shortlisted for Stage 2. TISS-MAT Score was aggregated with the score of TISSNET and OPI in the following manner to arrive at the final score for selection.

  • TISSNET: 50%
  • Online Assessment (OA): 50%
  • TISSMAT: No Weightage

TISSPAT Exam Pattern & Highlights: Will not be conducted for 2024

  • The TISS PAT was conducted for the candidates shortlisted from Stage 1.
  • TISSPAT is a 45 mins test conducted for individual MA programmes
  • The duration of the PAT is 45 minutes if candidate has applied and shortlisted only for one programme.
  • If candidate has selected two programmes the duration of the TISSPAT is 90 minutes and for three programmes the duration of TISSPAT will be 135 minutes.
  • After Shortlisting it was mandatory to Appear in TISSPAT before Online Personal Interview for each MA programme separately.
  • Personal Interview for TISS admission 2024 will be conducted Online
  • Final Admission is based on TISSNET, Online Assessment as TISSPAT is not announced
