TS-ICET-2020 Exam (Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test -TSICET) exam dates are May 20 (Wednesday) and May 21 (Thursday), 2020 in morning and evening sessions. The exam will be conducted across the State of Telangana. TS ICET is a computer based test and is conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad  for admission into M.B.A. and M.C.A. courses of all the Universities in Telangana State and their affiliated colleges for the academic year 2020-21.

 

TS ICET 2020: Overall Exam Pattern

• The TS ICET exam 2020 is an online computer based test.
• The TS ICET 2020 question paper consists of 200 objective type multiple choice questions.
• The TS ICET 2020 has a duration of 2½  hours  (150 minutes).
• Each question in TS ICET 2020 has 4 options out of which one is correct.
• Each correct answer in TS ICET pattern 2020 is awarded 1 mark.
• The unanswered questions or multiple answers are awarded nil marks in TS ICET 2020 exam pattern.

TS ICET 2019 Analysis: Exam Highlights
Conducted by Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad  for admission into M.B.A. and M.C.A. courses of all the Universities in Telangana State and their affiliated colleges for the academic year 2019-20, TS ICET 2019 has gone through many changes. Key exam highlights are:

• The TS ICET exam 2019 has changed to online computer based test from paper based test.

TS ICET 2019: Moderate Difficulty Level Exam
TS ICET 2019 has remained as moderate difficulty level exam as per the past trends. The previous TS ICET test papers have also  remained easy to moderate. The exam difficulty level has not changed.

TS ICET Exam: Section Wise Analysis

 

Section-A:  Analytical Ability

 

Data Sufficiency:
In this section, questions were asked on topics such as Numbers and Plane Geometry. Candidates had to solve questions on each of these subjects. Other topics are Mensuration, Modulus, Sets and Quadratic Equations & Progressions. Some candidates found Data Sufficiency questions of tough difficulty level.

 

Data Analysis: One question in this section was based on Set Theory. Candidates were asked 2 sets of questions on Pie Chart and Table which were Time-consuming and demanded intensive calculation. This section comprised 2 sets on Data Interpretation, one with 5 questions and another with 2 questions. The Overall difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate.

 

Reasoning: Candidates were asked more than 35 questions in this section from topics such as Series, Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Clocks & Calendar, Arrival & Departure, Blood Relations and Symbols & Notations. The Overall difficulty level of this section was easy.

 

Section-B: Mathematical Ability
This section was relatively tough and consumed more time. Few questions were directly asked. Most of the questions required conceptual knowledge.

 

Section-C: Communication Ability

The questions raised in this section were from English Grammar, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehensions. The overall difficulty of this section remained easy to moderate.

 

TS ICET Analysis for Previous Year
TS ICET 2018 Exam was held on May 23 & 24, 2018. The Examination took place across hundreds of centers in the Telangana state in the online mode. The Telangana ICET Exam was conducted by the Kakatiya University, Warangal on behalf of Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE). The Overall difficulty level of the examination was moderate. Based on the result, candidates were selected for MBA & MCA courses in various Government or Private Colleges of the Telangana State.  

 

TS ICET 2019 Cut Offs
TS ICET cut offs may not go very high in the top MBA colleges in Telangana. However, the minimum cut off as announced by Kakatiya University in TS ICET 2019 exam is 50 marks out of maximum 200 marks.

 

Kakatiya University will not apply any cut off for SC/ST category candidates.

The questions raised in this section were from English Vocabulary, Grammar, and Reading Comprehensions. The overall difficulty of this section is easy to moderate.

 

TS ICET Analysis by T.I.M.E.
According to the TS ICET preparation Institute T.I.M.E, “There was no change in the question paper pattern and the marking scheme as compared with TS ICET 2017. The question paper consisted of 200 questions to be answered in 150 minutes. There were three sections - Analytical Ability consisting of 75 questions, Mathematics section which had 75 questions, and Communication Ability with 50 questions. There was no negative marking. Section A – Analytical Ability

 

Data Sufficiency:

 

SLOT I (23rd May 2018)
Questions from topics on Numbers and Geometry - Mensuration dominated this section on Data Sufficiency. Other questions were drawn from topics like Simple Equations, Progressions, Trigonometry, AMA, Time and Work, Venn Diagram etc.

 

On the whole, the data sufficiency part can be rated as easy - moderate, with a majority of questions bordering on easy.

 

SLOT II (23rd May 2018)
Majority of the questions (nine) were from Numbers, while there were four from Geometry and Mensuration, and four from Simple Equations. All these questions are easy to moderate.

 

SLOT I (24th May 2018)
Questions from topics on Numbers and Geometry - Mensuration dominated the section on Data Sufficiency in this slot as well. Other questions were from Simple Equations, Progressions, Trigonometry, AMA, Time and Work Time and Distance etc.

 

On the whole, the Data Sufficiency part can be rated as easy - moderate, with most of the questions simple in their presentation.

Data Analysis:

 

SLOT I (23rd May 2018)
This part had three sets – one set with 5 questions where the data was given in a pie diagram, another set with 3 questions where the data was presented in the form of a line graph, and a third set with 2 questions. In the last set, one question was related to Venn Diagram, while the other was formula-based.

 

This part of the exam was easy, had fewer calculations to deal with, and did not present any tricky questions per se.

 

SLOT II (23rd May 2018)
Similar in presentation to the first slot, this one too posed three bar graph related questions, five pie diagram related ones, one Venn diagram question, and a lone formula-based question.

 

Questions here were easy to moderate.

 

SLOT I (24th May 2018)
This slot maintained the break-up of questions as of the two preceding slots; there were 3 table-based questions, 5 bar graph related questions, one from Venn diagrams, and a single one from formulae.

 

This slot too had a simple and doable set of questions.

 

Reasoning: (Problem Solving, Coding-Decoding and Date, Time and Arrangement)

 

SLOT 1(23rd May 2018)
There were 47 questions (including one question on Time and Distance) in this test area.

• Continuing with the pattern that was followed in the last few ICETs, the exam this year too presented 20 questions based on series and analogies, with 10 on Series and the other 10 on Analogies (including one formula-based question). There were five odd man out questions (including one on mensuration).
• There were two questions on Venn diagrams, and both of them were individual and easy ones.
• Questions on 'Coding – Decoding' were split into two parts - one set had five questions based on logic of numbers assigned to vowels and consonants, while the other comprised five individual questions. All these ten questions ranged between easy and moderate.
• Questions on Clocks and Calendar, Arrival and Departure, Blood Relations, Symbols and Notations, Direction sense, and Seating arrangement were of easy to moderate in their levels of difficulty.

Overall, this section was easy to moderate.

 

SLOT 2(23rd May 2018)
There were 47 questions (including one question on Functions) in this test area.

• Carrying forward the pattern followed in the last few ICETs, this section of the exam comprised 20 questions based on series and analogies, of which 10 were on Series and 10 on Analogies. Among these, there were five odd man out questions.
• The two questions on Venn diagrams cabn be tagged a 'easy'.
• Questions on 'Coding – Decoding' were divided into two parts, where five were a part of a set while the other five were individual questions. All these ten questions were between easy and moderate.
• Questions on Clocks and Calendar, Arrival and Departure, Blood Relations, Symbols and Notations, and Seating arrangement also shared the same level of difficulty, and fluctuated between easy and moderate.

Hence, this section of this slot too was easy - moderate.

 

SLOT 1 (24th May 2018)

There were 47 questions (including questions on numbers and Time and distance ) posed in this test area.

• Maintaining the trend of the past few years, the exam this year too posed 20 questions to test- takers, and they were based on series and analogies, with 10 on Series and 10 on Analogies. Out of these, there were five odd man out questions (one question on general awareness, two questions on matrices, and and on functions).
• The two questions on Venn diagrams were individual questions and were doable.
• Questions on 'Coding – Decoding' were in two parts, with five questions as a set, and five individual questions. All the ten questions was of easy – moderate difficulty level
• Questions on Clocks and Calendar, Arrival and Departure, Blood Relations, Symbols and Notations, and on Seating arrangement were of easy to moderate difficulty level.

On the whole, this section of this slot too, was easy - moderate.

About 75% of questions in this section were either easy or moderate.

There were numerous questions which could be solved by direct substitution of formulae.

 

SLOT II (23rd May 2018)

The questions in this slot were of slightly higher level of difficulty as compared to those asked in Slot I. There were 20 questions which could be solved by direct substitution.

 

SLOT I (24th May 2018)

About 75% of questions in this section were either easy or moderate.

There were numerous questions which could be solved by direct substitution of formulae.

Overall, the Mathematical Ability in TS ICET2018 was moderate.

Section – C -Communication Ability

Here is a compact analysis of each area of the English component of the said exam: In each of the slots, the English section of the test can be termed moderate in its presentation.

 

The break-up of questions across all the slots individually, has been given below:

• Reading comprehension – 3 passages with a total of 15 questions
• Synonyms – 6 questions
• FIBs – Vocab-based – 4 questions
• FIBs – Grammar-based – 8 questions
• Voice conversion – 1 question
• Statement / Conversation – 6 questions
• Total = 40 questions

A Detailed Presentation
In each time slot, there were three RC passages with fifteen questions. The passages were run-through and not tedious, but a few of them were slightly heavy on the mind. The length of these passages ranged between 150 to 215 words approximately. Questions were moderately easy to attempt.

 

In the first slot of the first day, the passages were based on topics like team work, a hospitality center, and the adverse effects of anabolic steroids. While a few questions were confusing, the rest bordered on easy, and a well-prepared test-taker would not have found them exacting in any manner.

 

Passages in the second slot of the same day were of a tad different shade. While one was on freedom of choice in education, the second one was an excerpt drawn from Stephen Covey's popular book – The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and it conveyed some lessons on personal change. Questions were all manageable, with one odd question a shade tough, but overall, workable and simple.

 

The second day's slot had one passage that was drawn from Napoleon Hill's 'Key to Success' and was on accurate thinking. The topic of this was thought-provoking and inspirational, and hence, difficult on the senses. The second one was about the flashes of light seen from the surface of the moon; the third was an extract from Mahatma Gandhi's unusual autobiography, 'The story of my experiments with truth', and it was a simple narrative. Questions posed from the above were simple though the content of the passage was sublime.

 

There were six direct vocab questions, all of them on synonyms, in all the three slots. While most of them were familiar words, a few were new ones and demanded extra attention than the others. Many of the choices were easy eliminations for narrowing down to the correct answer. Overall, this part too can be given a easy to moderate tag.

 

Functional grammar presented hardly any difficulty in both the slots of the first day, and was along expected lines. However, on day 2, fill in the blank questions were real teasers. Grammar based FIBs were eight in number, and candidates had to complete the sentences by filling in parts of speech like verbs, prepositions or articles. These were not at all challenging! However, the four vocab based FIBs were of a comparatively higher level of difficulty. There was one question on active- passive voice conversion, and this was reasonable. Elimination of unworthy choices would have helped candidates in arriving at the right choice. A reasonably doable set of questions on the whole!

 

There were six questions that were related to statements / conversations. These were a mixed set, with a few easy while the others challenging. A proper interpretation of both explicit and implied meaning of sentences, idiomatic expressions etc. Would have come in handy to solve them. This can be marked off as moderate set of questions.

 

The exam in essence was a balance between moderately simple and challenging questions!

 

Computer and Business Terminology:

The questions on Computer and Business terminology are a part of the Communication Ability section, and this year it was no different. 

The questions on Business Terminology can be categorised as easy to moderate; they targeted knowledge on Basic Economy, Financial Management, and other general business aptitude questions.

Questions on Computer terminology were from Binary Addition, Memory, Meta data, full form of DRAM, Netiquette, etc. These questions can be categorised as easy to moderate.
