Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) 2020 date is July 19, 2020. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the exam date was postponed earlier. SET is an online computer basted test for BBA admission in Symbiosis colleges which are affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU) Pune. SET 2020 exam pattern and test duration is changed by SIU to 2 hours.


SET 2020 exam date has been postponed from earlier date of May 2, 2020 due to country wide corona virus lockdown. New exam date for SET 2020 is July 19, 2020. SET exam is the mandatory online Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) for BBA admission. All the Symbiosis institutes accept only SET exam score. Conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, SET will be held on July 19 now from 2.30PM to 4.30 PM for admission to undergraduate courses at Symbiosis colleges.


SET Exam Pattern 2020: Key Changes from last year

  • SET Test duration reduced to 2 hours from earlier 2½ hours
  • SET 2020 Question paper consists of 90 MCQs as against 150 earlier
  • SET Exam 2020 test paper has 5 sections as against 4 earlier
  • New section of Written Ability Test (WAT) of 30 minutes duration added in SET 2020
  • Total maximum marks in SET 2020 are 90 for MCQs + Marks for WAT as per performance
  • WAT evaluation is subject to the candidate’s shortlisting for further admission process 

SET 2020 Exam Pattern: Revised and Divided into 5 Sections
SET 2020 exam is revised again. The test paper has 5 sections now: General English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning.

SET 2020 Pattern: Key Highlights

  • Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) 2020 is an online exam of 2 hours duration and consists of 5 sections.
  • First 4 sections with 90 MCQs must be solved in 90 minutes
  • The 5th descriptive WAT section must be completed within 30 minutes after completion of 4 sections of MCQs
  • Marks will be awarded as per the coherent, meaningful and error free writing skills in WAT
  • There is no negative marking in the exam
  • You will get +1 mark for each correct answer and zero mark for wrong answer
  • No extra time will be given for candidates who report late at the test centre
  • Each question in SET 2020 will have 4 responses
  • All the sections are mandatory to attempt
  • Candidates can move from one section to other section during the overall time limit of SET exam

SET Exam Difficulty Level
The level of difficulty in SET exam is kept moderate and the standard of the questions is as per class 12 level. Special care is taken to keep the Quant section difficulty level moderate enough so that the candidates from all streams in class 12 can attempt the questions.  Arithmetic remains the main stay in this section.


SET Exam Pattern : Type of Questions
It is very important to know the type of questions and the topics in SET exam on which questions are based:


Section-1: General English – 24 MCQs
This section in SET exam includes questions on Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension passages. Vocabulary and Grammar based questions are an important part of General English section.


Section-2: Quantitative – 24 MCQs
This section in SET exam covers Arithmetic of class 10 standard, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry among other topics.  Besides, you need  to prepare on Number System, Sequence and Series, Mensuration, Permutations and Combinations, Probability, Equations, Logarithm, Matrices among others.


Section-3: General Awareness- 24 MCQs
General Awareness with 24 questions, is an equally important section in SET exam. Major topics covered in SET syllabus are Current National Affairs, Current International Affairs, Currencies, Capitals, Geography, Books & Authors, Sports among other topics


Section-4: Analytical & Logical Reasoning – 18 MCQs
Reasoning section has 18 questions but is considered as very important section in SET exam. The section is supposed to have moderate level of difficulty but may be more time consuming. Make sure that you have covered all of the topics in this section namely Sequencing and Arrangement, Team Selection, Fact Inference Judgment, Passage Conclusion, Analogy, Statement Argument among others as detailed in SET exam syllabus


Section-5: Written Ability Test (WAT) – 30 Minutes Writing Test on a Topic

  • The section of WAT will be evaluated only if the applicant has been shortlisted for further admission process
  • This is the new section added in SET 2020 for BBA admission
  • This is a descriptive type section
  • Time to write on WAT topic is 30 minutes maximum
  • WAT will include subjective essay questions
  • WAT will have two questions from which the applicant will have to answer any ONE only.

After declaration of SET result, candidates are shortlisted for PI round based on their Entrance Test score. Candidates are advised to check the respective Symbiosis Institute website for information and dates of Personal Interaction round.
