XAT 2011 notification out; registration starts today

XLRI Jamshedpur has announced the dates for XAT 2011 entrance exam. The exam will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011. The B-school has published the XAT 2011 notification in leading newspapers across India. According to the notification the registration process is open from today, September 1, 2010 and the last date for sending your application is Tuesday, November 30, 2010.

The exam dates are no surprise to the readers of MBAUniverse.com as the number one MBA portal had broken the news on July 19 itself. In an exclusive communication with MBAUniverse.com, Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Dean – Academics of XLRI had informed that XAT 2011 is going to be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011. XAT is held on the first Sunday of January every year. Considering the trend of preponement of CAT and FMS 2010 exams, the schedule for XAT 2011 has not changed.

Eligibility
Candidates must have a bachelors degree under 10+2+3 system from a recognized university or a deemed university. Candidates completing final year examination are also eligible to apply.

Registration
The XAT 2011 aspirants have to obtain the XAT bulletin from select Axis Bank branches. After that, they have to logon to the official website for XAT which is
www.xlri.net.in. The fee for XAT 2011 is Rs. 950.

Test Centers
The test will be held in the cities of Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Goa, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara and Vishakhapatnam.

Institutes accepting XAT scores
XAT scores will be used by more than 70 MBA institutes across India. Candidates have to apply separately to XAT Associate Institutes after completing their registration process. Some of the noted MBA institutes accepting XAT scores are Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB), Goa Institute of Management (GIM, Goa; Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) Chennai, S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai, Welingkar Institute of National Development and Research Mumbai to name a few.

XAT exam format
Last XAT was held on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Being a paper pencil based test, it proved to be the toughest exam of the season 2009-10. The paper consisted of 101 questions which was lesser than the previous years.

The duration of XAT exam is two-and-a-half hours. It starts from 10 am and ends at 12.30 pm. The sections are Verbal and Logical Ability, Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making, Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability. There is also a question on Essay Writing, the duration for which is 20 minutes,
