The Department of Management Studies, IIT Kanpur will host Prabandhan 2010, the Annual Management Conclave of the management institute on September 11 and 12, 2010. The conclave will contain seven events. These are Saudagar, case study competition; Kautilya, live case study competition; Neeti, operations event; Jigyaasa, management quiz competition; Tarkeeb, crossword competition; Talaash, treasure hunt competition and Pragyaan, lecture series. 

Talking about the objective of Prabandhan, IIT Kanpur says, “The objective of the conclave is to provide a common platform for academicians, industrialists, corporate professionals, research scholars and young management students to share knowledge and experiences, to update and get updated on current and upcoming trends in the field of business management, and to discuss the problems faced by the 21st century businesses. “

Saudagar
It is a marketing case study competition which will see participation from leading B-schools. The preliminary round will be online and the second round will be held in the campus. According to the B-School, the participants will have to sell products in unforeseen situations. “Not only will you have to promote the assigned products, but also the undeclared unrelated items that come along with them, and sell them as a package. Come, be the real ‘Saudagar.’”

Kautilya                 
In the online live case study competition, there will be analysis of general management case. There will be simulated business condition like time deadlines, information gap and a fixed budget. Talking about the event, IIT Kanpur mentions, “In this competitive world, change is the only constant. To cope up with this fast moving environment every business has to continuously monitor its strategies and business outlook.” The B-School adds that, “Every organization craves for strategists who are not only competent in dealing with the challenges and managerial dilemmas faced by global businesses, but are capable of taking advantage of adverse situations. “

Neeti
Neeti is an operations event where the participants will get the opportunity to test their operations expertise and come up with optimal solutions to real life operations problems. “Real management starts when you come out of the books and face real life problems and get on top of it,” says IIT Kanpur.

Jigyaasa
Jigyaasa is an online management quiz competition. It will test the management quotient of the participants.

Tarkeeb
Tarkeeb is an online crossword competition. It will focus on businesses, brands, promotions, corporation’s history etc. There will be textual, pictorial and multimedia clues to help the participants.

Talaash
This is an online treasure hunt competition. “Talaash allows you to experience the thrill in the comfort of your room with our online treasure hunt. Solve the puzzle and be guided closer to the treasure,” says IIT Kanpur about Talaash.

Pragyaan
This is a knowledge sharing session where academia and industry stalwarts will share there ideas with the students. “This lecture series aims at imparting knowledge and increasing awareness beyond the classroom,” expresses the B-School.
