The Global Management Guru Award, instituted by Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) in memory of its founder, Late GD Birla, has been announced. The Award will be conferred upon the leading management thought leader Prof. Jagdish Sheth for his contribution to the field of management. The Selection Jury was headed by Padma Shri Prof. Pritam Singh, Professor Emeritus, MDI. The award will be presented on January 21, 2011.

Dr. Jagdish Sheth is the Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is a global thought leader who has made scholarly contributions in areas such as consumer behavior and relationship marketing, among others. He is a recipient of the Richard D. Irwin Distinguished Marketing Educator Award and the Charles Coolidge Parlin Award, which are the two highest awards conferred by the American Marketing Association.

Speaking about the Global Management Guru Award, Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, told MBAUniverse.com, “The objective of the award is to honour contemporary global thought leaders in the sphere of management education. This award is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it is global. Secondly, it honours thought leaders in the global academic community within the management discipline.”

When asked about the jury’s selection process, Dr. Chaturvedi said, “The jury comprised of eminent researchers, academicians and scholars from across the world. They were unanimous about conferring Dr. Jagdish Sheth with this award for his contribution to various areas of management education.”

The jury comprised of eminent professors from the US, Europe and Asia, industry leaders from India and representatives of the media, publication houses and management associations from across the globe.
