It is not the mentee but the mentor who has the responsibility to carry out the commitment of achievement
High balanced sectional percentile is required to convert the call to IIM and there you need a good mentor.

Had Gokhale been not there, Gandhiji might have not been able to achieve what he achieved during freedom struggle and probably the impact of Gandhian thought on Indian Society could have been somewhat different.  The fact that India owes him a lot is probably due to the great mentorship Gandhi got from Gopal Krishna Gokhale. Chandragupta would have not been an emperor without the mentorship of Kautilya and it is an undisputed fact.

It is not the mentee but the mentor who has the responsibility to carry out the commitment of achievement and has to see whether the mentee is focused towards his goal.

Scoring a high percentile of 97 or 99 in CAT is not enough to secure a seat in an IIM, the final admission round comprising GD/PI/WAT is still there. Moreover it is not overall percentile but high balanced sectional percentile is required to convert the call to IIM and there you need a good mentor.

Mentor who can add Value

Whether you are preparing independently for CAT 2014 or through a coaching you need at least one steady mentor who can add value to your preparation strategy.

Mentoring is a responsibility and a commitment that requires valuable time and focused attention to assure that aspirant’s goals are progressing forward.  If you have one steady mentor that is adding value to your preparation, nothing is better.   Finding a mentor is difficult and making it work is even more challenging.

It is very difficult for the students to be so much self-disciplined that they can effectively study and plan the schedule of study on their own.  There you need a mentor who can guide and plan the strategy, can take you through when you are stuck, can save your time and energy when you are moving forward to achieve the high percentile in CAT. You may study hard but there must be someone who could guide you in the right direction else you may get lost in mid way.  While dedicated and regular Self study is a pre-requisite for this prestigious examination, the guiding star is your mentor and coaching institute.

We all know that ‘pretty’ and ‘Handsome’ are the synonyms but may not know that both of them cannot be substituted for each other. So we cannot write ‘Handsome woman’ or ‘pretty boy’ ( Both the usage are wrong).  There you need the mentor to guide what is being asked and how you would be able to answer it.

Mentor needed to add intelligence to knowledge

Apart from knowledge, CAT assesses one's ability to think beyond the obvious, that is whatever has conventionally been there in your mind while going through various education levels, you must visualise beyond that.

If you are going to appear in CAT first time, your mentor will help you to figure out the course structure and how to study it. You may not know what should be studied and where to start from. It is no good starting your study from anywhere or anything you find.  The systematic path is shown by the mentor.

With the advent and progress of technology, it is not necessary that you need physical presence of your mentor. Your mentor can now guide you well on-line and can train the mind to think beyond the apparent
