IIM Ahmedabad is the undisputed number one management school in the country. IIM Ahmedabad runs 2 years full time PGP and PGP-FABM programmes. As the convener of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015, IIMA revamped the CAT exam structure and content and for the admission year 2017-18 it reduced the required minimum CAT sectional percentile to 70 from earlier 80. As a result, many non-engineers and students from Arts, Commerce and other diverse academic back ground have found admission in IIM Ahmedabad even after scoring lower than 90 percentile in CAT 2016. Prof Errol D'Souza is the new Director of IIM Ahmedabad. His tenure is from February 1, 2018 and is for five year duration. Prior to accepting this position, he served as a Professor of Economics and the Dean of Faculty at IIM Ahmedabad. He has held appointments such as the IFCI Chair Professor at the University of Mumbai, India Chair Professor at the University Sciences Po in Paris, as a Visiting Professor of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, as an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore, a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, and as a Visiting Professor at the Turin School of Development of the ILO.
The Government of India MHRD NIRF Ranking 2017 has placed IIM Ahmedabad at number 1 position. In 2008, IIMA became the first business school in the country to be awarded EQUIS accreditation. In its latest ranking, The Economist has ranked IIMA at 56 among the top 100 international B-schools in the world that offer full time MBA. The Financial Times (FT) has ranked the two-year post graduate programme in management (PGP) of IIMA in the top ten programmes in the category of Masters Programmes in Management.
