This year IFMR has two rounds of admission viz. The Early Decision Round and the General Round.
The Early Decision Round, dedicated to working applicants, is designed to help the selected applicant complete his/her notice period with his/her employer and still join the program on time. Shortlisting for the EDR is done based on academic performance in class X, XII and graduation, because together these are highly correlated with performance in entrance exams. The shortlist for the selection process will be released on the 18th of January 2017. The selection process will be held in a staggered manner on weekends in February at the following 10 cities - Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune - The selection panel in the EDR will have at least one faculty member from IFMR plus one or two managers from Corporate. IFMR will directly obtain the applicants CAT./XAT/CMAT score from the exam conducting organizations and release the merit list for the EDR on the 5th of March 2017.
The General Round is open to all applicants regardless whether or not they are working, or even if they are in the final year of graduation. Shortlisting for the General Round is done based performance in entrance exams, with adjustments for achievements if any, also the applicant`s performance across all the entrance exams taken will be compared and only the best performance will be considered. The shortlist for the selection process will be released on the 22nd of February 2017. The selection process will be held in a staggered manner on weekends in February at the following 20 cities - North Zone - Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, West Zone - Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, East Zone - Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, South Zone - Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Mangalore. The merit list for the general round will be released on the 9th of April 2017.
