Final Placements 2008: IMT Ghaziabad sees buoyant trend; allows multiple-offers

IMT Ghaziabad has achieved 100% placements and an overall average salary for PGDBM programme reaching an impressive Rs. 9.56 lakhs p.a. even with the inclusion of three newly launched courses in IT, International business and HR.

These new courses lead to the batch size increasing to almost a double of last year's at 180 students.

The highest domestic salary offered this year was Rs. 17 Lakhs offered by Abhishek Industries - Trident Group, whereas the highest international package offered was $ 85,000 by Olam International, Singapore.

Traditionally, IMT had been following a policy of 'One student-one offer'. However, confident with the encouraging demand from the industry, for the first time, multiple offers were allowed to all the students this year. Almost all students had more than one offer to choose from. This is proved by the fact that end of placements, there were 522 offers for 340 students, which is more than double the number of offers many of the similar campuses have received.

This year, IMT Ghaziabad also welcomed a number of recruiters coming for the first time or after a long gap including Mercer, AT Kearney, Cerebrus, Synovate, Perfetti Van Melle, Vodafone, Aviva, Yes Bank, Schneider, SKF, SEBI, ORG-IMS, Aptivaa and Moser Baer.

In the FMCG domain, some of the companies that participated in the placement process include Agrotech Foods, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Godfrey Philips India, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Perfetti Van Melle, Reckitt Benckieser, SabMiller, ICI, Henkel India. In the Telecom domain Bharti, Idea, Tata Teleservices, Vodafone visited IMT.

In the IT & ITES sector, Accenture, Citigroup Global, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Genpact, Infosys BPO, Infosys, Mphasis, Perot Systems, Satyam, TCS, Wipro recruited from the campus.

Consulting companies visiting IMT included Aptivaa, Arthur D. Little, A T Kearney, Avalon, Cerebrus, Mercer, Protiviti, Synovate.

In the financial sector, some of the key recruiters included Aviva, Citibank, DE Shaw, HDFC Bank, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Power Finance Corporation, Irevna, Adventity, SBI Life, SEBI, Tata AIG, ICICI Prudential, Tata Capital, United Bank of Switzerland, Bank of America, Yes Bank.

GE, Schneider, SKF, Mahindra & Mahindra, Essar Group, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corporation, Moser Baer recruited from the manufacturing sector.

The regular recruiters at IMT also include Citibank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Centurion bank of Punjab, Development Credit Bank, HSBC, Henkel India, Agrotec Foods, GE, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Tata Motors, Maruti, DCM Sriram, Godfrey Philips, Olam International, Jumbo Electronics, Reckitt Benckiser, ICICI Prudential, SBI Life Insurance, Wipro Technologies, Infosys, Cognizant, Satyam, Perot, and TCS.

Says Prof. Nilanjan Chattopadhyay, Chairman Placements, IMT Ghaziabad, "This was the first time IMT Ghaziabad made conscious efforts to call recruiters from abroad. There has been  substantial increase in the number of international offers from companies like HSBC Hong Kong, Protiviti Risk Consulting, Sharaf Group, Olam International and Jumbo making a total of 15 offers, compared to, 7 last year. In the years to come, we are determined to put IMT on the global map."
