2. NIRF Ranking 2024 Management: Release, Key Highlights; Big Gainers, Top Private B-schools
The 9th edition of Govt of India NIRF Ranking 2024 has been released on August 12, 2024 at 3 PM by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Education Minister of India. This year more than 4000 institutes applied for the rankings. The Rankings 2024 have been released for 16 streams as against 13 streams last year. In the recent Rankings, IIM Ahmedabad has retained its top position while IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode are again at 2nd and 3rd position respectively. IIT Delhi has displaced IIM Calcutta which has slided to Rank #5 while IIT Delhi has captured its Rank #4. IIM Mumbai has moved up at Rank # 6. Other key highlights of Rankings 2024 are that the third generation IIMs like IIM Nagpur, IIM Bodh Gaya have jumped many places upwards leaving behind number of top B-schools while PGDM B-Schools like MICA Ahmedabad, SIBM Pune, MDI Gurgaon, Jaipuria Institute of Management Lucknow have jumped by many Ranking places. Many second generation IIMs like IIM Udaipur, IIM Kashipur, IITs have also slided down to lower ranking position.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework is approved and released by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The first Ranking was released in 2016 followed by yearly announcement of B-school Rankings from 2017 to 2024. Till 2019 the Rankings were released by Hon’ble President of India. There are 500 maximum marks awarded in the Ranking on different parameters which include Teaching, Learning & Resources, Research & Professional Practice, Placements, Peer Perception among others.

The 14th edition of MBAUniverse.com B-school Rankings 2024 was released on December 30, 2023. Regarded as one of India’s most credible B-school Rankings, the prestigious MBAUniverse Rankings 2024 put IIM Bangalore as No 1 B-school in India. IIM Calcutta at #2 Rank and IIM Ahmedabad at #3 Rank are amongst Top 3 B-schools in India. SPJIMR Mumbai has moved up to #4 place, pushing down IIM Lucknow to #7 while IIM Kozhikode has retained its #5 position in MBAUniverse Rankings 2024 . Despite stiff competition from IIMs and IIT B-schools, top PGDM B-schools like IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, TAPMI have earned their spot in coveted Top 25 Ranks. 4. Business Today India’s Best B-schools 2024
The 12th edition of Business Today’s ‘India’s Best B-schools Survey 2024’ has been released on October 13, 2024. More than 2,500 B-schools meeting the eligibility criteria were contacted through various channels in Business Today Rankings. Started in 2013, the Business Today rankings have witnessed a neck-and-neck battle for several years between IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) and IIM Calcutta (IIMC) occupying the top two positions. However, In Business Today Rankings 2024, prominent management institutes IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, XLRI Jamshedpur, SJ Mehta SoM IIT Bombay, FMS Delhi have not participated.
In the BT Rankings 2024, IIMC has again claimed the No.1 position this year followed by IIM Lucknow at No.2 and SPJIMR Mumbai at No.3. The BT-MDRA India’s Best B-schools Survey 2024 is prepared jointly by Business Today and Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA), a leading market research firm.
