IIM Guwahati to Become India’s 22nd IIM
On August 18, 2025, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tabled the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha to establish IIM Guwahati as an Institute of National Importance. The Bill provides a Rs 555 crore corpus over five years for establishment of IIM Guwahati. With this, IIM Guwahati will become India’s 22nd IIM and the second in the Northeast after IIM Shillong. 4.6 Top 10 IIMs by Highest Salary
Although the highest salary is offered to one or two students, the highest salary offered at an IIM campus often makes newspaper headlines. In the table below, the highest domestic salary registered by the IIMs in MBA placements 2024 is taken into account. It may be noted that IIM Bangalore has not released its highest salary and IIM Ahmedabad will release the salary data in September 2024 after IPRS Audit. 5. IIM Admission Process
IIM Admission process has following four steps:

• Apply and appear in CAT exam. IIM-CAT is the mandatory MBA entrance exam for admission to all the IIMs and all the IIMs open and close their admission process simultaneously with the opening and closing of CAT registration dates
• After declaration of CAT result in January, IIMs shortlist the suitable candidates for final admission round on the basis of CAT exam scores, academics, diversity, work experience among other parameters
• All the shortlisted candidates shall have to appear in the Written Ability Test (WAT) followed by Personal Interview (PI).
• On the basis of performance of candidates in final selection round, final merit list will be generated and admission offers will be made by the respective IIM
