Two things stand out in the IIM Indore admission cut off table.
EWS candidates face the same threshold as General — 80.00 sectional and 90.00 overall — with no relaxation at all. Every other IIM in the collection sets EWS below General. At IIM Lucknow the EWS total is 82 against a General 90; at IIM Bangalore 75 against 85.
The ST and PwD thresholds at 40.00 sectional and 45.00 overall are among the lowest published by any older IIM, giving IIM Indore admission one of the widest category spreads in the system — 45 percentile points between General and ST on the overall measure.
Only those applicants meeting both the sectional and the overall percentile are considered for the next stage.

IIM Indore admission ranks candidates clearing the cut off on a Composite Score, and a sufficient number from each category — General, EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD — are shortlisted for the Personal Interview.

Class 12 at 25 marks is the defining feature of IIM Indore admission. No other IIM comes close: IIM Calcutta gives Class 12 fifteen points out of eighty-five, IIM Bangalore ten out of a hundred, and IIM Lucknow ten. Combined with Class 10 at 10 marks, the school record carries 35 of 100 — more than a third of the shortlisting decision, decided years before a candidate sits the CAT.
Quantitative Ability carries the most weight within CAT. The 55 CAT marks split as VARC 16, DILR 16 and QA 23. That is the opposite of IIM Bangalore, where DILR leads at 21 against QA’s 15, and unlike IIM Kozhikode, which weights all three equally. A candidate strong in QA is materially better placed at IIM Indore.
Work experience is worth at most 3 marks, one of the lowest weightings in the system. IIM Sambalpur and IIM Sirmaur award 20. For IIM Indore admission, experience is close to a rounding error.
Class 10 and Class 12 scores are computed through a normalisation process using Z-scores: 10 or 25 × [(Z candidate − Z min) ÷ (Z max − Z min)]. CAT sectional scores are scaled as weight × (candidate’s score in the section ÷ highest score in that section).
Where a candidate has no Class 10 marks because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 10% allocated is redistributed. Where Class 12 marks are unavailable, the 25% is split between the CAT sectional scores, the PI score and the available marks.
IIM Indore Selection Process and Final Composite Score
IIM Indore admission shortlists are announced in January, and candidates are informed then, and individual regret letters are not sent to those who are not shortlisted.
Attendance at the PI is compulsory. Failing to attend results in non-consideration for the next stage. Candidates who do not meet the minimum performance in any of the PI parameters, as determined by the Admissions Committee, are also not considered further — so the interview functions as a threshold as well as a score.
A category-wise merit list is then generated on the Final Composite Score.

The Personal Interview at 45 marks is the largest single component of the final IIM Indore admission score, and the sectional CAT weighting inverts between stages: VARC rises from 16 to 20 while DILR falls from 16 to 10.
This is the most significant documentation gap on this page. For context, peer institutes weight the interview at 48 marks at IIM Calcutta, 40 at IIM Bangalore and IIM Lucknow, and 35% at IIM Kozhikode.
The IPM Route: Admission After Class 12
IIM Indore runs the five-year Integrated Programme in Management, entered directly after Class 12 and leading to an MBA under the dual degree programme. It is the most distinctive structural offering among the IIMs in India, and it changes what IIM Indore admission means for a school-leaver.
IPM students join at 17 or 18 rather than after a bachelor’s degree and three years of work. The fee structure treats IPM Batch IV and V alongside PGP-I and PGP-II respectively, at the same rates.
Mess is optional for IPM students, where it is compulsory for PGP.

How to Apply to IIM Indore
Step 1. Register for CAT 2026 and name IIM Indore.
Step 2. Enter your Class 10 and Class 12 marks with care. At 35 of 100 combined they carry more weight in IIM Indore admission than at any peer institute, and they are taken from the CAT form.
Step 3. Sit CAT, noting that Quantitative Ability carries the largest sectional weight at 23 of 55.
Step 4. If shortlisted in January, attend the Personal Interview. Attendance is compulsory and a minimum performance applies on every parameter.
Step 5. Await the category-wise merit list.
