IIM Shortlist 2024

Following are the IIMs shortlists 2024 release dates on which the IIMs shortlists for admissions 2024 are expected for PI round

* The CAP participating new generation IIMs shortlist for admission 2024 is released for CAP round in January  and their individual shortlists with lower cut offs may also be released separately in April after obtaining confirmation of interest from the eligible candidates 

This year CAT result 2023 was released on December 21, 2023. Most of the IIM Shortlist 2024-2026 are expected to be released in the month of January 2024. 

IM shortlist criteria 2024 focus more on student quality which is not just measured only by CAT exam scores. As such ‘profile’ plays a key role and therefore is considered important for improving diversity in IIM Class rooms. Accordingly, IIM Shortlist criteria 2024 focus mainly on following 3 Parameters:

• CAT 2023 Exam Scores: Each IIM shortlist criteria specify its minimum required sectional as well as overall percentile score in the range of 70 to 95 percentile
• Academic Profile & Diversity: IIMs shortlist criteria award weightage to excellent academic record till graduation and to the candidates coming from Non-Engineering back ground. Female candidates are also awarded weightage to promote gender diversity in IIM class rooms
• Work Experience: If a candidate has a work experience between 2 and 3 years in an executive/supervisory cadre, good weightage in the range of 5 to 10 percent is awarded in IIM shortlisting criteria to become eligible for GD-PI-WAT round

IIMs use multiple parameters to shortlist CAT test takers for final selection round. Apart from CAT cut offs, the diverse profile of the candidates and performance in PI round also play an important role for final admission as different weightage is awarded for each component. Detailed below are the IIM shortlisting & selection criteria and weightages as used by all the IIMs for MBA admission 2024

Prior to releasing shortlists, IIMs announce components and weightages for shortlist. Based on these cut off, academic profile, work experience, diversity the shortlists are released. For your reference, an example of IIM Bangalore shortlist criteria is shared below 

IIMs shortlist 2024 will be announced by including a minimum of 10 times more candidates as compared to their respective intake. The seats available for admission in IIMs and the number of candidates expected to be shortlisted by IIMs for final selection round 2024 are given here:

*IIM Shortlisting Process clubbed for Common Admission Process (CAP) by coordinating IIM in consultation with each participating IIM  

The top 6 IIMs Shortlists 2024 are released earlier than other IIMs. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore are the front runners in releasing the shortlists in accordance with their admission policy 2024 within a few days from the declaration of CAT exam result.

IIM Kashipur is coordinating Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024 for admission 2024 for IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur. For these CAP participating 10 IIMs, a Common shortlist will be released in the last week of January 2024. The CAP process is conducted from Mid February to Mid March, 2024. Some of the CAP 2024 participating baby IIMs - IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur announce different shortlisting criteria for CAP and for their own selection round.

Higher cut offs are announced for the CAP round and lower cut offs are announced for their own selection process after CAP is over. These IIMs have clarified that the Candidates who do not receive call for CAP 2024 will receive separate communication from these IIMs based on their respective shortlist criteria given in their admission policy.

IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, IIM Visakhapatnam are not participating in IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) 2024 and are releasing the shortlists independently. IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Nagpur will release their Phase-1 shortlists and IIM Shillong will also release its shortlist for final selection round.  

IIM Rohtak which, earlier used to participate in CAP round, is not participating in new IIM CAP 2024 and is independently conducting its admission process online and asks the candidates to register and apply for admission again. The shortlist will be released from among the candidates who have applied for IIM Rohtak admission. IIM Amritsar will release the shortlist in February/March 2024.

All the 7 Baby IIMs, whether they are participating in CAP 2024 or are conducting independent PI round will ask the candidates to apply and reconfirm their interest for admission in them by the stipulated date before considering their candidature for final admission. The release dates for all the newest IIMs shortlist 2024 are from March to April.
