Two Stages of IIM Bangalore Admission 2022
The selection of the candidates for admission 2022 at IIM Bangalore is a two-step process involving Shortlisting criteria for PI-WAT and the Final admission selection Criteria comprising PI-WAT round.

In the first step, IIM Bangalore will shortlist the candidates for WAT and Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2021 score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme. The second step is the final selection criteria on the basis of which admission offer will be made.

IIM Bangalore Admission Eligibility

  1. IIM Bangalore eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. The candidate should appear in CAT 2021 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission at IIM Bangalore
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Bangalore by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate.
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Bangalore Admission 2022. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
  5. IIM Bangalore Eligibility criterion further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will become ineligible for the IIM Bangalore admission unless he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2022 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2022) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
  6. It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIM Bangalore and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2022.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2022.

IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria
IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria 2022 is a two step process - shortlisting criteria for PI-WAT with  40% weight for CAT 2021 score and 50% Weight to Academics while the Final admission selection Criteria award only 25% weightage to CAT 2021 score.

Over the years, IIM Bangalore has found that the students who perform well academically in the PGP programme are those who have a consistently good academic record at their secondary school, higher secondary school and graduation level, besides exhibiting sufficiently high aptitude as measured by the CAT Exam. Accordingly, IIM Bangalore uses multiple parameters and award high weightage to academic performance in Class 10 and 12, bachelor’s degree as well as the section wise scores in CAT exam to judge the suitability of candidates for the PGP programme.

1. IIM Bangalore Shortlisting Criteria
The Admission criteria and weights given to various parameters in shortlisting are based on data from previous cycles as well as on inputs from the IIM Bangalore faculty body and other relevant stakeholders. The Admission criteria at IIM Bangalore are revised every year. The admission committee fixes these criteria and weights before beginning of each admission cycle to avoid any bias

The first part of IIM Bangalore Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. IIM Bangalore will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2021 score, past academic performance, and other criteria as under:

The minimum overall percentile required for PGP 2022 shortlsting through CAT 2021 at IIM Bangalore is 85.
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2021, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  • The candidate with excellent academics will be awarded higher points in shortlisting criteria
  • 90% & Above marks in Class 10 will be awarded top rating of 20 points out of 100.

IIM Bangalore Admission Process
IIM Bangalore Admission process is based on the relationship between academic performance of students of the PGP in IIMB and their past academic performance, their CAT score, performance in the admission interview and prior work experience.

Following steps are included in the IIM Bangalore Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2021 to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at IIM Bangalore
  • Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2021 score, who have excellent academics, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Bangalore
  • Step 3: IIM Bangalore will identify many candidates for shortlisting for the PI round with an excellent academic record and work experience but who may have narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist. Such candidates will be preferred in the shortlisting process as against those who have only a high CAT score but have poor academic profile and poor quality of work experience.  The emphasis in shortlisting process at IIM Bangalore is on consistent and high performance in academics and other parameters.
  • Step 4: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Bangalore to successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in WAT & PI, Performance in past academics, Performance in CAT 2021, Quality of Work Experience among others
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made by IIM Bangalore to the candidates in the third week of April 2022 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.

Located in India’s high technology capital, IIM Bangalore is in close proximity to some of the leading corporate houses in the country, ranging from information technology to consumer product companies, giving it the added advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with practical experience.

IIM Bangalore is an autonomous, standalone management school and not part of any university. It was established in 1973 by the Government of India through the creation of an IIMB Society which is the legal entity behind the institution. The school works within the national policy guidelines established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

IIM Bangalore is the first B-School in Asia to sign an agreement with Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) to distribute faculty teaching cases. IIMB has also entered into a partnership with Richard Ivey School of Business to co-brand and distribute faculty-authored cases globally.
