IIM Kozhikode has announced the shortlist of candidates on January 7, 2020 for final selection round for MBA admission 2020. Substantial changes have been made in the shortlisting process by IIM Kozhikode which has not only reduced the weightage to CAT exam score but also has brought back the diversity factor. Falling in line with top IIMs, IIM Kozhikode has reduced the CAT 2019 weightage to 45% as against the earlier awarded high weightage of 75%, slashing substantially it’s one of the biggest shortlisting parameters.

IIM Kozhikode Cutoff 2020 clarify that the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2019 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2019 are considered for all the subsequent stages for shortlisting and admission.

Academic Score Cut off
Candidates should have secured following minimum score in class X and XII to be considered for shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode. The percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria 2020: Key Changes

  • 85 overall and 75 sectional percentile in CAT 2019 is applied in shortlisting as against 90 & 80 last year
  • CAT 2019 score will carry a weight of 45% instead of 75% last year in shortlisting
  • Weightage to Academics increased to 45% this year from 20% last year in shortlisting
  • Weightage to Academic & Gender diversity increased to 10% this year from 5% last year in shortlisting
  • Final admission round will award a weight of only 35% to CAT 2019 percentile score as against 40% last year
  • Admission offer will be more dependent upon PI/WAT which carry the 55% weight.
  • Resume to carry 10% weight in final admission process

IIM Kozhikode Admission Process

  • Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2019 and minimum academic score to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at IIM Kozhikode
  • Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2019 score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Kozhikode. The PI-WAT round will be conducted at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi. 
  • Step 3: Shortlisted Candidates have to attend both WAT/GD & PI round in final selection process. IIM Kozhikode also expects a consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of Personal Interview (PI) round. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the final selection.
  • Step 4: After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Kozhikode to successful candidates. The final selection is based on performance in CAT, performance in WAT & PI, academics, among others. Category wise merit list will be generated based on Final Score
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April 2020 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.

PI-WAT Evaluation

Essay Writing (WAT) & GD on Same Topic

  • In the Essay Writing Test, the candidate will be writing a short essay and participate in group discussion on the same topic
  • The topic will be announced at the venue just before the GD/WAT.
  • The topics will be based on current political, economic, sports, business affairs, etc.

Personal Interview (PI)

  • Personal Interview (PI) will follow the WAT/GD round
  • During the personal interview, the panel will evaluate the academic background, quality of work experience and other personal traits
  • The PI-WAT process will be over in half day session either morning or afternoon

  • The total programme fees payable by PGP students at IIM Kozhikode is Rs 17,50,000/-.
  • The course fee includes tuition, course material, boarding and lodging

  • The total programme fees for the 2020-2022 batch may be revised upwards

IIM Kozhikode Intake: 480 Students
IIM Kozhikode will offer admission to 480 students in 2020. A few students with equal rank in final merit list may be added. Last year there were 485 students in the new batch. Betting on the diverse pool of talent, IIM Kozhikode currently has 76 full time faculty members.

IIM Kozhikode has a consistent record of 100% placements with high salaries offered to the students. IIM Kozhikode students were offered roles in domains like Investment Banking by Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase; Consulting and Strategy by Bain & Co., BCG, Mckinsey & Co., and Deloitte; Operational Leadership roles by Amazon and HUL. While companies like Capgemini, Mahindra, RPG, and TAS offered roles aimed at accelerated leadership positions.

In Placement 2019, 366 students participated in the process. The placement process was completed in six days. With a 16% increase in the average salary offered, 21 new brands recruited from the campus this season. IIM Kozhikode recorded an Average Salary of Rs. 20.67 lakhs and Highest Salary of Rs.40.50 lakhs in Placement 2019.
