IIM Kozhikode has released the stage-1 shortlist 2022 consequent upon declaration of CAT 2021 exam result on January 3, 2022. After screening all the eligible candidates who appeared in CAT 2021 and scored required percentile cut off as per IIM Kozhikode admission policy 2022, the institute has released its stage 1 shortlist asking the candidates to fill up and submit the required form as below by January 12, 2022 so that they may be considered for Stage-2 Shortlist for PI round.

IIMK is the first IIM to have initiated its shortlist release activity as early as on January 6, 2022 after declaration of CAT 2021 result. Substantial changes have been made in the shortlisting process by IIM Kozhikode which has not only reduced the weightage to CAT exam score but also has brought back the diversity factor. For 480 seats, more than 1200 candidates are to be shortlisted.

Falling in line with top IIMs, IIM Kozhikode has reduced the CAT 2021 weightage to 45% as against the earlier awarded high weightage of 75%, slashing substantially its biggest shortlisting parameters. Please also note that after declaration of stage-2 shortlist for PI round, IIM Kozhikode will not send any individual regret letter to applicants who are not shortlisted for Personal Interview.

IIM Kozhikode PGP 2022 Shortlist Cut Offs
IIM Kozhikode Cutoff 2022 clarify that the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2021 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2021 will be considered for all the subsequent stages.

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the flagship programme offered by IIM Kozhikode. It is a 2 year, full time residential programme. IIM Kozhikode reduced the CAT weightage to 45% last year in shortlisting criteria, earlier it awarded high weightage of 75% to CAT score in its shortlisting process.

IIMK PGP 2022 Admission Criteria: 10 Key Highlights
One of the six top IIMs, IIM Kozhikode has changed substantially the Admission Criteria 2022 for its PGP 2022-24 batch as under:

  1. A high weightage of 40% to Class X & XII Marks will be awarded in shortlisting
  2. Work experience to get 5% weight in shortlisting
  3. No weightage to Bachelor’s Degree marks will be awarded.
  4. Gender/Academic Diversity will be awarded 10% weight in shortlisting
  5. CAT 2021 score will get 45% weight in Shortlisting the candidates
  6. No Essay Writing (WAT) component in final selection round
  7. PI round to get 44% weight in final selection
  8. Weight to ‘Resume’ increased to 12% in final selection
  9. 44% Weight to CAT 2021 score in final merit list preparation

Till 2017, IIM Kozhikode awarded weightage to bachelor’s degree marks but the same has been discontinued now. A new component ‘Resume’ with 12% weight is added to the final selection round components. IIM Kozhikode eligibility criteria have made it mandatory for CAT 2021 aspirants to score a minimum of 85 overall (Reduced from 90) and 75 sectional (Reduced from 80) percentile in CAT 2021 to be eligible for shortlisting for final admission round.

IIM Kozhikode Admission 2022 is a three step process. The three-stages of selection criteria are:

  1.  Eligibility criteria
  2.  Shortlisting Criteria for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)
  3. Final Admission Selection criteria

 IIM Kozhikode Admission Eligibility

  1. IIM  Kozhikode Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
  2. IIM Kozhikode Admission Eligibility criterion requires the applicant to appear in CAT 2021 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall percentile score to become eligible for next stage of shortlisting
  3. If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Kozhikode by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate. 
  4. A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Kozhikode Admission 2022. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
  5. IIM Kozhikode Eligibility further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will be eligible for the IIM Indore admission only if he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2022 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2022) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
  6. It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIM Kozhikode and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2022.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2022. 

IIM Kozhikode Shortlisting Criteria
The second stage of IIM  KozhikodeAdmission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. IIM Kozhikode will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2021 score, past academic performance, and other criteria as under:

  • The shortlisting for final selection round in IIM Kozhikode Admission Criteria awards 45% weight to CAT 2021 score, 25% weight to Class X marks, 15% weight to class XII score, 10% to Diversity and 5% to Work Experience
  • The candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 75 in each of the three sections of CAT 2021 – Quantitative Aptitude' (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning' (DILR) and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension' (VRC)
  • A candidate must have scored minimum overall percentile of 85 in CAT 2021
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2021, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  • No Weightage will be awarded for Bachelor’s degree marks.
  • Academic/Gender Diversity will be awarded 10 points out of 100 in the IIM Kozhikode shortlisting criteria for final admission round.
  • All the Candidates shortlisted for PI will have to attend the PI round, failing which they will be not be considered for the final admission

IIM Kozhikode Shortlisting Weightage
IIM Kozhikode will shortlist the candidates for WAT & PI stage on the basis of  five parametres for admission 2022 as against four parameters last year. These are CAT 2021 score, academic scores of class X and XII, Academic & Gender diversity and work experience. There is no weightage to the academic scores after class 12.

A shortlist of candidates in each category will be created based on an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is computed based on the performance in CAT 2021, Class X and XII marks, diversity and work experience. The weight of each component in the AIS is as follows:

2. Final Admission Selection Round Criteria

  • All the shortlisted candidates are eligible to participate in Final selection round for admission to IIM Kozhikode
  • IIM Kozhikode selection criteria after final admission round are based on CAT 2021 score, Personal Interview and Resume of the candidate.

  • IIM Kozhikode will conduct the PI in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi.
  • Final Admission offer will be made in the last week of April/first week of May 2022 on the basis of performance in PI, WAT, CAT 2021 exam and Resume.

PI  & Resume Evaluation

  • During the PI process, the panel will evaluate the academic efforts and disposition, general awareness and social disposition, attitude, personality and communication and the quality of work experience of each candidate
  • The resume score will be calculated based on the quality of academic and professional qualifications.
  • The process will be over in half day session either morning or afternoon

 Minimum Required Academic Score
Candidates should have secured following minimum score in class X and XII to be considered for shortlisting by IIM Kozhikode. The percentage of marks obtained in Class X and Class XII would be calculated based on the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Process
Following steps are included in the IIM Kozhikode Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2021 and minimum academic score to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at IIM Kozhikode
  • Step 2: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) round from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2021 score, who have applied to the programme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of IIM Kozhikode. The PI round will be conducted at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi.
  • Step 3:Shortlisted Candidates have to attend PI round in final selection process. IIM Kozhikode also expects a consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of Personal Interview (PI) round. Candidates not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the final selection.
  • Step 4: After the PI round, admission offers are made by IIM Kozhikode to successful candidates. The final selection is based on performance in CAT, performance in PI, academics, among others. Category wise merit list will be generated based on Final Score
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April 2021 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.
