MBA admission 2020 at Shailesh J.Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM) – IIT Bombay is open now and the last day to apply at this coveted B-school closes on January 31, 2020.

Notifying a different eligibility condition for the MBA aspirants, SJMSOM-IIT Bombay requires minimum 4 years bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in any discipline as against other top MBA colleges including IIMs who require only 3 years bachelor’s degree.

After the CAT 2019 results declared on January 4, 2020, SJMSOM-IIT Bombay  has opened the application process for admission. The applicants are required to complete the online application form which is available from January 6, 2020 on the website of the B-school. The last date for filling the form is January 31, 2020.

  1. The candidates should fill all the mandatory details in one go, otherwise the data will be lost as the session expires in 50 minutes.
  2. The candidates should be fully prepared with all the relevant information/data before starting to fill the Online Application form.
  3. The data can be edited any time before the final submission of the form
  4. You may download the online application format from the IIT Bombay website for your reference. Compile all the relevant data required to fill it up, and then proceed to fill up and submit it your online application.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Eligibility

  1. A Bachelor’s degree of 4 years duration, or a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10 from the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  2. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of 4 years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
  3. Applicants appearing for final year of the degree and those who have completed the degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. The applicant should have secured an aggregate of 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or equivalent till the latest exam that has been completed and whose scores are available.
  4. CA/ICWA, with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in any discipline having secured 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10.
  5. The candidate should have appeared in CAT 2019 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Criteria 2020 is a two step process involving the preliminary screening and shortlisting criteria with  80% weightage for CAT exam score and the Final admission selection Criteria with only 37.5% weightage to CAT exam score.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Cut Off  
SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Cut off 2020 has been liberalised for MBA admission 2020. Only the candidates above the minimum cut-offs in the CAT 2019 sectional percentile ranks, the overall percentile rank and obtaining a positive (greater than zero) raw score in all sections of CAT-2019 will be considered for all the subsequent stages.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Shortlisting Criteria
The first part of SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission criteria is the shortlisting criteria before final selection round. SJMSOM-IIT Bombay will shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT 2019 score, past academic performance, and other criteria as under:

  • The 1st stage of shortlisting in SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Criteria awards 80% weight to CAT 2019 score, 12% weight to Academics, 3% to Gender Diversity and 5% to Work Experience
  • The candidate must have scored minimum sectional percentile of 80 in each of the three sections of CAT 2019 – Quantitative Aptitude' (QA), ‘Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning' (DILR) and ‘Verbal and Reading Comprehension' (VRC)
  • A candidate must have scored minimum overall percentile of 90 in CAT 2019
  • If the candidate does not score minimum prescribed percentile in CAT 2019, he/she will not be considered for shortlisting for final selection stage.
  • All the shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) between 7th to 10th March, 2019.
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to book the slots for WAT and PI as soon as the shortlist is released.

SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission Process
Following steps are included in the SJMSOM-IIT Bombay Admission process:

  • Step 1: The candidate must have applied, appeared and scored the minimum required sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2019 to be considered for first stage screening process for admission at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay
  • Step 2: Candidate must apply for MBA Admission 2020 at SJMSOM-IIT Bombay latest by January 31, 2020
  • Step 3: Candidates are short-listed for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2019 score, who have applied for admission to SJMSOM-IIT Bombay and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme of  SJMSOM-IIT Bombay   
  • Step 4: The WAT & PI will be held from March 5 to 8, 2020 for domestic candidates. For International candidates the WA & PI will be held thereafter. After the WAT & PI round, admission offers are made by SJMSOM-IIT Bombay to  successful candidates. The final selection is based on a diverse set of attributes which includes performance in CAT, performance in WAT & PI, academics, extra-curricular achievements, work experience among others
  • Step 5: Final Admission Offer will be made to the candidates in the last week of April 2020 on the basis of Final Score arrived after awarding the weightage scores on all the components.
