IIM JAP 2026: Participating IIMs, Eligibility, CAT Cut Off, Important Dates

IIM JAP 2026 is the joint admission initiative for IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi and Tiruchirappalli for MBA Admission 2026. IIM JAP full form is IIM Joint Admission Process. IIM JAP 2026 streamlines the admissions process for aspirants, allowing them to apply to four IIMs through a single window. Post the declaration of CAT 2025 result in January 2026, aspirants will be eligible to get admission in any of the four participating IIMs, through a joint admission process.

Four well established IIMs have come together to launch the Joint Admission Process (JAP) 2026 for MBA admissions. Check their market positioning in the table below.

IIM Raipur will be the coordinator for IIM JAP 2026, handling the admission process for all four participating IIMs. Prof. Sanjeev Prashar, Director-In-Charge, IIM Raipur, said, "We are honoured to announce the Joint Admission Process (JAP) 2026, fostering collaboration among four premier IIMs.” He further added, “This initiative exemplifies our commitment to resource optimization, student-centric admissions, and strengthening the IIM brand for future leaders. The IIM Joint Admission Process 2026 is a common selection process conducted for candidates shortlisted by participating IIMs based on their CAT scores. Instead of appearing for separate rounds of interviews for each IIM, selected candidates undergo a centralized Personal Interview (PI) round. Final admission offer to the candidates is released by individual participating IIM based on the performance in JAP round, CAT score, Academic Profile, diversity, work experience and their other selection parameters. Here’s a step-by-step guide to the expected IIM JAP 2026 Admission Selection Process.  

Step 1. Shortlisting for JAP 2026: After the announcement of the CAT 2025 results, four participating IIMs will release their shortlisting criteria (CAT Cut Off for JAP) and calls for candidates for the joint admission process.  

Step 2. Registration for JAP 2026: Once shortlisted, candidates will be required to register for JAP on the JAP official portal before the last date.

Step 3: JAP City & Date-Slot Booking: Selection of preferred city for Offline PI/WAT (expected) and date-slot booking can be done only by candidates who successfully completed JAP registration. 

Step 4: JAP PI Round: Candidates should appear in Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) round.

Step 5. JAP Round Evaluation: After the JAP round, the organizing IIM will send the interview scores to all other participating IIMs. Each IIM will then evaluate candidates independently based on its own admission policy. Key factors considered include CAT score, JAP score, Academic profile, Diversity factors (gender, academic background, etc.)  and Work experience.  

Step 6: Final Selection by Individual JAP IIMs: Each participating IIM uses its own formula to compute the final score and release its merit list for MBA Admission 2026.  

The IIM JAP 2026 application form filling process for eligible candidates will be made live from January first week soon after the CAT 2025 results are announced. Check expected IIM JAP dates 2026 below.

To participate in JAP 2026, candidates should meet the IIM JAP 2026 eligibility criteria. These are as follows:

• A valid CAT 2025 score that clears the minimum cut-off percentile of the participating IIMs. Cut Off to be announced.
• A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC, ST, and PwD categories).

Though there is no formal notification regarding IIM JAP 2026 cutoffs, we can expect the cutoffs on the similar level as the IIM CAP cutoffs. Last year IIM CAP, released the shortlisting for the interview at 95 percentile. We can expect the cutoffs to be around 94-95 percentile for IIM JAP 2026 process.

After the CAT 2025 results are released, candidates are shortlisted for the next stage of IIM JAP 2026. The shortlisting depends on several factors, not just the CAT score, as given below:

• CAT Performance: This is the first criteria that decides if candidate should be further assessed. IIM JAP 2026 Cut Off is expected to be 94-95 percentile.
• Academics: Past performance in Class 10, 12, and graduation carries weight.
• Work Experience: Applicants with relevant work experience may get additional marks.
• Diversity Considerations: Gender and academic background may also get some additional marks.

Once shortlisted, candidates attend IIM JAP personal assessment process that includes Written Ability Tests (WATs), Group Discussions (GDs), or Personal Interviews (PIs). It should be noted that candidate needs to appear in the IIM JAP process only ones and the performance/scores will be shared with all four IIMs. After that, each IIM, prepares its own final merit list based. That means while the personal interview evaluation stage is common, but the final admission offers are independent.

• Simplified admission journey with less duplication of documents and steps

While the fours IIMs are conducting IIM JAP, more than 10 IIMs including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta conduct their own admission process. Each IIM develops its own MBA admission policy, combining CAT scores with other parameters such as academic profile, work experience, diversity factors, and performance in the interview round. New IIMs like IIM Nagpur and IIM Bodhgaya also run IIM CAP process and IIM SAP process to streamline their admissions. 

IIM JAP is similar to the IIM CAP process. Last year, the IIM Common Admission Process (CAP) for final selection round for MBA admission 2025 was held for eight IIMs, namely IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur. IIM Bodhgaya was coordinating CAP 2025 process. More than 20,000 candidates participated in IIM CAP 2025 process, which included Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds for shortlisted candidates. IIM CAP 2026 details are yet to be announced. 

In summary, IIM JAP 2026 is the common MBA admission process for IIM Kashipur, IIIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, and IIM Tiruchirappalli.
