Recording yet again 100% placement to its credit, IIM Visakhapatnam has concluded final placement 2019 with higher salary packages for the graduating batch of MBA 2017-19 students. Average salary at IIM Visakhapatnam has gone up to Rs. 12.61 LPA in Placement 2019 from Rs.12.07 LPA last year while the highest salary offered has shot up at Rs.22 LPA.

With superior all-round performance, the student cohort lived up to the high expectations and landed plum offers in rich profiles and niche roles, from renowned companies that visited the IIM Visakhapatnam campus.

This is the third batch at IIM Visakhapatnam and the placements at this B-school has surpassed many long established B-schools including IIMs who are yet to complete their final placement 2019. Despite the increasing competition, the IIMV students have shown robust performance in attracting the country’s premier companies. The industry has offered diverse profiles and niche roles. The Final Placement Process for IIM Visakhapatnam was on rolling basis held on campus.

Key Placement Trends at IIM Visakhapatnam
Continuing the legacy of remaining the first among the many IIMs to complete final placement, IIM Visakhapatnam, one of the 7 newest IIMs which started operation with first batch in 2015-16, has reported yet again 100% placement with higher average salary for the PGP 2017-19 batch.

With their efforts in summer internship and corporate competitions, 5 students received PPO/PPIs. The 50 recruiters who participated in the placement process made multiple offers. Out of 60 eligible students, 4 students requested deferment of their placements to next year.

With an average salary for the top quartile at Rs. 17.07 Lakh Per Annum (LPA), for the top half at Rs. 14.82 LPA, the average salary for the batch has gone up at Rs. 12.61 LPA and median package at Rs. 12.00 LPA.

The highest salary at Rs.22.00 LPA broke all previous records and set new benchmarks.

Top Recruiters
The continued trust and confidence reposed in the students of the Institute resulted in several top-notch recruiters hiring this year too. Reaffirming its faith in the Institute’s student-talent, Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) recruited once again.

Aditya Birla Payments Bank, Amara Raja Group, Amul, BASIX, Berger Paints, Bosch, Click Labs, Euromonitor International, Franklin Templeton, GMR Group, HDFC Bank, HSBC, ICICI Lombard, KPMG, Mu Sigma, TVS Motors, Waaree Energies, Yes Bank among others were the prime recruiters.

KPMG, the big-four consulting firm, hired students for their Government Advisory, IT Advisory and Strategy & Operations Consulting practice. Leading FMCG company Amul onboarded students for Sales & Marketing. Infrastructure giant GMR extended offers for its Management Trainee program in the Operations domain. Berger Paints signed up students for Marketing role. Engineering and Electronics multinational Bosch, IT/ITES companies like Pramati Technologies, Neudesic, MAQ Software and Click Labs offered roles in General Management, Management Analyst, Business Development, Strategy and Digital Marketing domains. The season also witnessed participation from companies from high-growth sectors like Market Research, Hospitality, Infrastructure, Luxury goods & e-Commerce.

Sectoral Placement
Accounting for 25% placements each, the IT/ITES and BFSI continued to bet big on new talent. The width of placements was divided into following sectors as Consulting (10.7%); Energy (8.9%); Conglomerate (7.1%); Hospitality, Infrastructure and Luxury Goods (3.6% each); FMCG, Mining, Automobile, Chemical, Manufacturing, Market Research and Government (1.8% each). It proved that the Institute readies its students for diverse domains.

The achievement is more significant as IIM Visakhapatnam has been able to place its students across companies, sectors and industries, before their convocation to be held shortly.

IIM Visakhapatnam is one of the 7 newest IIMs that started operation in 2015-16. IIM Visakhapatnam came into being in 2015 as one of the 6 IIMs announced in the Union Budget 2014. While 5 of the 6 IIMs got finalized in the Budget 2014, the fate of IIM Visakhapatnam took the final shape in the Budget 2015 till then it remained a Government Ordinance entity. IIM Bangalore is the mentor IIM to IIM Visakhapatnam. The temporary campus at IIM Visakhapatnam doesn’t have on campus hostel accommodation and candidates are accommodated to off campus hostel accommodation.

Classes at IIM Visakhapatnam are held at the temporary premises allotted to it at Andhra University campus and will continue at the temporary campus till the 300 acre campus of IIM Visakhapatnam gets ready.

IIM Visakhapatnam is about to begin its final admission process and is sending e-mails to the eligible candidates to confirm their interest in IIM Visakhapatnam. After receiving the confirmation of interest IIM Visakhapatnam will conduct PI-WAT round. The minimum qualifying CAT 2018 percentile cut off as announced by IIMV for the shortlist is 90.
