Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2017 will be on the similar pattern like previous years. The entrance test is to follow the Pen-Paper format like every year.

XAT 2017 will have four sections (i) Verbal and Logical Ability (ii) Decision Making (iii) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (iv) General Knowledge. The marks of General Knowledge will not be used for determining the percentile and cut off at first stage of selection. Updating on the proposed exam pattern of XAT 2017, Prof Munish Thakur, XAT 2017 convener and XLRI Admission chairperson has shared “XAT, though one of the oldest competitive examinations in the country, has always kept pace with the cutting edge testing methodology. XAT’s multidimensional testing framework is designed to meaningfully assess the aptitude of candidates for future business success. We follow the pen & paper format, in order to ensure equal opportunity to all candidates. The examination focuses on multi-dimensional examination structure and fairness, to assess aptitude of future business leaders.”

Candidates holding recognized Bachelors degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline or students completing their final examination by June 10, 2017 are eligible to appear for XAT 2017. NRI and foreign candidates may apply through GMAT score.

According to Prof Thakur, XLRI has been conducting XAT on behalf of XAMI. For over 60 years, XLRI has been conducting XAT on an all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT score is considered for admission by more than 150 B-Schools across India”

Composition of XAT 2017
XAT 2017, to be conducted on January 8, 2017 will be divided in two parts

Part-1
Part-1 will have 3 sections in Multiple choice questions(MCQs) format
1. Verbal and Logical Ability
2. Decision Making
3. Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

Part-2
The second part in XAT 2017 will be the test on General Knowledge in MCQ format & Essay writing test in subjective format. Check your preparation level at with your score at http://www.mbauniverse.com/xat-mock-register.php

Aspirants will be asked to write an essay on a given topic. Candidates having been tested on objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will also be tested on real life driven written communication skill based on wider perspective on important issues of our times. The candidates in XAT are tested on both the counts. Their performance in essay writing will also form the base of their final section round.

The marks of General Knowledge will not be used for determining the percentile and cut off at first stage of selection. However it is used by XLRI and some other Associate Member Institutes at the time of final selection

XAT 2017; time duration-overall as well as sectional
XAT 2017 will be a 3½  hours test to be held on January 8, 2017. The candidates will not have any break in between except for the fact that Objective MCQ part -1 with 3 sections will be over in 170 minutes and next 35 minutes will be allotted for GK and Essay writing part with 5 minutes in between for turn over time.

No sectional time constraints
XAT 2017 will not restrict the test takers from moving to one or other sections within the overall allotted time. However, aspirants are advised not to spend too much time only on one section since all the sections will have the respective cut off percentile.

No varying marking system
All the questions in XAT 2017 will carry equal marks. Prior to 2013 XAT used to carry varying marking system from 1.5 to 5 marks per question. The system got stabilized in 2013 and continued since then.

Negative marking
one fourth of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer in XAT 2017. So please be careful while marking your answer choice on the OMR sheet.

How to mark your answers
Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding to mark your answer choice on OMR sheet in XAT 2017.  In our speed of solving the questions, picking and marking the answer options, sometimes we skip the correct numbered bubble and mark out answers in some other column. This inadvertently made mistake, results in a chain of followed wrong answers and the entire preparation, hard work goes futile.

Ensure the following in XAT 2017
-- OMR sheet requires your identification data. So fill in the information required on the answer sheet. Please remember your test may not be evaluated if the required details are not entered on the answer sheet.

-- Each question in XAT 2017 will have five alternatives. Answer each question by darkening the appropriate bubble against the question number on the answer sheet. For example if your answer to question number 1 is 'B', darken fully the circle B' against question 1.

-- Use only BLUE OR BLACK BALL-POINT PEN for marking answers on the OMR answer sheet in XAT 2017. Please do not use gel pens or ink pens

This year, XAT will be conducted from 47 centers all across India that will include the cities - Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam. The test will be held in 2 international cities of Dubai and Kathmandu.
