No details for Not selected ones

IIM Bangalore has clarified that admission status details are shown only for those candidates who are offered admission, or, are Waitlisted. Accordingly, those who are not offered admission will not find their admission status details even after login to the IIM Bangalore Website.

How does IIM Bangalore make final admission offer?

IIM Bangalore has followed a comprehensive multi-criteria process at the pre-PI stage. At the 1st stage shortlist IIM Bangalore identifed many candidates for the PI who have an excellent academic record and work experience but who, while doing well enough in the CAT to be in the first shortlist, narrowly missed the high score that would have been required if CAT alone was the basis for the PI shortlist.

Such candidates effectively replaced candidates who have only a high CAT score but scored poorly in terms of their past academic record and work experience. IIM Bangalore emphasizes consistent and high performance in past academics and all other parameters

IIM Bangalore final selection weightages

The final offers of admission to candidates in each category have been made strictly on the basis of the final aggregate score which includes PI, WAT, Academics, CAT score and Work experience

Weightage area Weightage points on a scale of 100
Personal Interview (PI) 30
Written Ability Test (WAT) 10
Academic s 25
CAT 2016 score 25
Work experience 10

While other IIMs award higher weightage to CAT scores, IIM Bangalore considers other parameters with higher weightages than awarded to CAT scores. This is the reason that even high percentile in CAT does not ensure your chances of admission to IIM Bangalore unless you have excellent academics and have good communication skills.

IIM Bangalore convened CAT 2016 and was the 1st IIM to declare the shortlist of candidates for the PI round after CAT 2016 results were out on January 9, 2017. Hundreds of 99 and above percentilers did not find place in the shortlist of candidates whereas many low percentilers could make it to IIM Bangalore as its admission policy awards weightage to other parameters also.

CAT 2016 result had 3 more 100 percentilers than last year but not all of them have been selected by IIM Bangalore. There were 20 candidates with 100 percentile in CAT 2016 while CAT 2015 & CAT 2014 had 17 and 16 candidates respectively with 100 percentile.

The biggest surprise in CAT 2016 result was that there was no female candidate who could score 100 percentile while during last 2 years there was at least one woman candidate who cracked CAT with 100 percentile. On the top of it all the candidates with 100 percentile were from engineering background although IIM Bangalore made all the efforts to conduct CAT 2016 as a revamped test to increase the academic and gender diversity in IIM class rooms.
