Meet challenges with courage, leadership and integrity: Dr APJ Kalam at FORE School of Management

Inspirational public leader and former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam never fails to inspire his audiences.

Delivering the convocation address at New Delhi based FORE School of Management (FSM) on September 15, 2008, Dr Kalam raised the spirits of graduating students, faculty members and others present on the occasion with his inspirational address. The central point that emerged from Dr Kalam's address was that students must have a courage, leadership quality and integrity to face the challenges in their career.  

Addressing the graduates, Dr Kalam said, “You are going to enter a challenging world and you have to meet the challenges with integrity and leadership for your success in corporate world.”

While sharing his views on vision 2020, Dr Kalam said, "By 2020, India will see a lot of development. There will be more quality education, development in value added education, more opportunities for management students." He added, “As the nation grows, there will be more issues but you need to solve those issues by leadership, integrity and management thinking as a true manager."

Dr Kalam also said that management students can bring small scale industries into main-stream sector.

While talking about creating leadership in the corporate world, Dr Kalam shared the steps from creating leadership to competitiveness. Said Dr Kalam, “'Competitiveness' is followed by 'Knowledge', 'Knowledge' is followed by 'Technology Innovation', 'Technology Innovation' is followed by 'Resource equipments', 'Resource equipments' is followed by 'Revenue and Return of Investment', 'Revenue and Return of Investment' is followed by 'Custom and Loyalty', 'Custom and Loyalty' is followed by 'Quality and value of products', 'Quality and value of products' is followed by 'Employee productivity', 'Employee productivity' is followed by 'Employee satisfaction', 'Employee satisfaction' is followed by 'Working environment', 'Working environment' is followed by 'Management excellence' and finally 'Management excellence' is followed by 'Creating leadership'."

Dr Kalam also asked students to have courage to develop, to meet challenges, to discover process, to overcome the problems and succeed.

In his concluding remarks, Dr Kalam administered oath to FSM students and said "For the growth of nation, I do and will have courage to achieve the success for all my missions."
