IIMs have informed MBAUniverse.com that they have taken multiple steps to tackle the issue. Students are advised to access the scores using several other options.
Acknowledging the issue, IIMs said, "CAT results have been announced today. With close to 250,000 candidates, their friends, relatives, and coaching classes trying to access the result on CAT website, we face a gargantuan peak-load problem on this day. And, as a result, we receive many requests from faculty, staff, and students with inquiries for CAT score of their kith and kin."
IIMs add, "To prevent the gargantuan peak-load problem, apart from inserting CAPTCHA randomized password access and additional server capabilities, IIMs have arranged to make scores available through SMS, Interactive telephone (IVRS), as also through CAT website."
IIMs have advised students to access the scores in one of the following ways:
1. Send SMS to 57333. Type "CAT test registration number date of birth (ddmmyy)" or "CAT test registration number application number". For example: "CAT 5370082 030482" or "CAT 5370082 123456"
2. Dial the IVRS lines: 079-26307258.
3. Visit http://results.catiim.in The scores can be accessed by keying in the test registration number and either the date of birth or the CAT application number.
4. Of course, in due course, candidates will receive printed official score cards by snail mail
