The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business will together offer a Global Leaders Program (GLP) on ‘Growing and Innovating in a Flat World’.

The GLP will be a senior executive education program aimed to enhance the capabilities of leaders to innovate, succeed and grow their businesses in the global economy. It would also help them recognize the societal and political issues across the world and understand their impact on global business. Through this program, leaders can recognize and respond to differences and opportunities across global markets, formulate and implement competitive and collaborative strategies for growth in the global environment.

According to IIM-A, “It will also train them to explore new models of organization and leadership in an interconnected world, develop strategies to fulfill investor expectations in different financial markets and further to enhance the ability of participants to lead effectively in multi-cultural organizations.”

It will include participants of varied profiles like senior managers from global or multinational companies, senior managers from large national companies with aspirations to be global, entrepreneurs and chief executives from mid-size organizations with global aspirations.

The GLP will bring together leading faculty members from IIM-A, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business as well as executives from around the world and from diverse organizations to offer a powerful developmental experience.

According to IIM-A, “The GLP will not only be taught by these two faculties but will also be taught on their two campuses on different sides of the world.” Thus, it will be bringing together both theory and experience to create a deep understanding of how to grow, innovate and lead in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment, in an increasingly “flat” world.

The program is divided into two eight-day modules separated by a short intersession. The first module will be held between August 20 and 27 at the IIM-A campus. The second will be held between September 17 and 24 at Duke’s campus in Durham, North Carolina, US.

As faculties from both institutes share their knowledge and experiences, program participants will be encouraged to add their own insights and perspectives regarding the real-world challenges they face in their respective global environments. Case discussions, lectures, readings and presentations will serve to add depth to the program curriculum as we seek to understand the cultural and institutional differences that influence global strategies and changing economies.
