Over two lakh students are expected to appear in CAT 07 to be held in November this year.

The leading management test preparatory institutes like Triumphant Institute of Management Education (TIME) and IMS are conducting a ‘mock’ CAT test for aspirants to give a taste of real thing.

TIME is conducting All-India Mock CAT titled as AIMCAT on July 15. According to TIME, AIMCAT would be conducted in over 50 centres across the country and would simulate the actual CAT to the last detail. The test centres of AIMCAT include the cities – Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and others.

According to TIME, AIMCAT is ideal for the students who have gone through training program for CAT and would like to keep in touch with the competition and be in the race.

IMS has also announced its ‘Open SIMCAT’ Test 2007 on July 22. The test is conducted for both IMS and non-IMS students who want to test their ability to crack CAT. The SIMCAT is scheduled in 82 cities including Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Indore and Vishakhapatnam.

According to IMS, SimCAT gives aspirants the CAT experience many times before you face the actual CAT. SimCAT is a series of tests that simulates the CAT environment, makes you take these tests CAT style i.e. on the OMR sheet and gives a national percentile ranking. You will also receive a detailed analysis of your performance after every SimCAT.

Both these mock tests are free for aspirants. Aspirants can register on http://web.imsindiaonline.com/ for ‘Open SIMCAT’ and http://www.time4education.com/Free_AllIndia_Mock2007.asp for ‘AIMCAT’. These one-time tests give flavor of the extended test series offered by both TIME and IMS.

These free tests offer good opportunity for the training institutes to engage with potential aspirants and convert them into their aspirants. Both TIME and IMS are promoting these tests in national media to gain attention of students. Other test-prep institutes like Career Launcher are also following suit.

Students should apply their mind and logical thinking to perform well in these tests. According to the IMS, “Presence of mind and reasoning ability is all that you require when it comes to cracking the Open SIMCAT, for it is the closest to the big CAT!”

Management aspirants can appear in these test series to evaluate their performance and identify week areas in their preparation for CAT ‘07.
