The first year students of IIM Ranchi are excited about their Summer Internships. The MBA students will have the opportunity to work for two months in leading companies of our country and rub shoulders with CEOs and COOs. These students have the honour of being the students of the first batch of IIM Ranchi, which got functional in year 2010.
The B-school recently concluded its highly successful summer placements process. IIM Ranchi has succeeded in providing a fully paid summer internship for the entire batch of 44 students. The average stipend offered to the entire batch was close to Rs. 55,000 for two months.
For a small batch of 44 students, a total of 51 offers were made by 24 companies spread over varied sectors. Sales & Marketing was the most preferred sector on campus with 31.82% offers while finance roles were second after that with 29.54% offers. 11.36% and 13.64% offers were made in operations and consulting respectively.
A diverse range of profiles were offered that included financial consulting, strategy, hospitality management, IT consulting, statistics, economic research, apart from the regular profiles such as sales & marketing, corporate banking, operations and HR.
Various companies offered niche profiles to the students. The role of financial markets analyst was offered by CNBC. Another company offered a strategy role at the Marketing Director’s desk. IIM Ranchi will be amongst the few IIMs whose students will be working in the marketing division of Nokia as interns.
A multi-national market research company offered international summer internships to two students in Singapore and Malaysia. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 160,000.

-- Banking & Finance: HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, CNBC Group, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, L&T Finance, Clearing Corporation of India
-- Consulting: Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Wipro Consulting, Index Advisory, Asclepius Consulting
-- Sales & Marketing: Nokia, Vodafone, Wrigley, Dabur, HT Media, Hindustan Pencils, Exide.
-- Others: Boston Scientific, Oberoi Group, Logica Worldwide, Maruti
