Placement 2013: More recruiters visit IIM Kozhikode; Average salary@ Rs 12.31 lakh

IIM Kozhikode has concluded final placement for its 2011-13 batch with as many as 146 top companies offering lucrative job offers to all the passing out graduates who sought campus placement.
While the average annual salary offered to the batch was Rs 12.31 lakh, the highest domestic package stood at Rs 32 lakh per annum.
IIM Kozhikode has concluded final placement for its 2011-13 batch with as many as 146 top companies including Asian Paints, Mahindra& Mahindra, Unilever, Cognizant, Deloitte, Airtel, Britannia, L&T, ITC, Reliance, Amul, KPMG, TCS, HCL, Wipro offering lucrative job offers to all the passing out graduates who sought campus placement.

While the average annual salary offered to the batch was Rs 12.31 lakh, the highest domestic package stood at Rs 32 lakh per annum.  According to the institute’s placement office, the number of international offers this year stood at 22 with roles being offered across locations like the Middle East, Africa and Asia pacific in the healthcare, FMCG, Information security and Commodities sector. 

Some of the other top companies which recruited from the campus include Goldman Sachs, Aditya Birla Group, Deutsche Bank, TVS, American Express, VistaMind, PepsiCo, JP Morgan, Vodafone, Infosys, Ranbaxy, and Cipla.
According to the institute, the year 2013 saw an increase in the total number of companies participating in the process as compared to 2012, and the number of international offers witnessed a significant increase. As compared to 2012 when the total number of recruiters for the batch of 317 students was 135 last year, this year saw as many as 146 recruiters participating the recruitment process for the batch of 325 students.

“Despite recessionary fears and a slowdown in the economy, IIM Kozhikode successfully hosted all major industry stalwarts along with a large number of new recruiters,” said Prof Kulbhushan Balooni, Chairperson- Placements, IIMK.  He also thanked IIMK alumuni for pro-actively participating in the placement process.  “A significant number of students would also be joining companies, such as EduRaft, Vista Mind, Sugee Group, V2 Solutions & CampHire, started or being run by IIM K alumuni,” he said.

Speaking on the placement 2013 at the campus, Dr Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, said, “We pride ourselves in producing students with a perfect amalgamation of skills required for both global and local Business Leadership requirements. This is evident from the continued trust our recruiters have placed in us as a preferred destination for talent sourcing.”

Close to 12 per cent of the batch received pre-placement offers from their summer internship companies.  While Sales & Marketing and Finance continued to be the forte this year, this year witnesses several key roles being offered to students in other verticals as well.

Finance:

Companies like Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Citi Bank,  HSBC, DE Shaw, Fidelity Investments, ICICI, Axis Bank, SBI Caps, offered roles in Corporate Finance, Treasury, Risk Management and Investment Banking.

Marketing & Sales:

HUL, ITC, Nestle, Asian Paints, Britannia and Pidilite were some of the top names offering Sales & Marketing roles.

General Management:

Students looking at General Management roles cashed in this year with Cipla and Bosch picking several students for their leadership roles. This is apart from the regulars like of TAS, Reliance Industries, L&T and Mahindra & Mahindra, who offered coveted leadership programs in their organizations.

Consulting:

In the consulting sector, top recruiters include McKinsey, Deloitte, KPMG, Cognizant Business Consulting, IBM Consulting and Wipro Consulting Services. IT Consulting continued to be our mainstay this year, however niche consulting sectors saw an increase in their presence on campus.

IT & ITES:

Immune to the economic slowdown, Information services firms continued to recruit in bulk with companies like Cognizant, Accenture Technologies, TCS, IBM Consulting, Wipro, Infosys, HCL and Mindtree making offers to the candidates. 

Operations:

Some of the big names of the industry in the Operations domain like Asian Paints, Tata Steel, RPG, Ambuja Cements, Jindal Steel and L&T made offers to the students. First time recruiters included companies like Sodexo and Yepme which offered roles in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics and Service Delivery.

Public Sector:

Organizations from the Power and Energy sector recruited students for various roles, continuing the trend over the last years. Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation, and HPCL were some of the big names from the public sector.
