Placement 2013: Average annual package up by 8 % at MICA

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), has completed 100 per cent placement for its flagship PGDM-Communications batch of 2011-13.

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), has concluded its final placement for its flagship PGDM-Communications batch of 2011-13 with over 80 top companies like Nestle, Titan, HDFC Life, City Bank, Tata Motors, ONGC, Amazon, Leo Burnett recruiting all the students who sought placement through campus. 

According to the institute, a total of 80 companies visited for the Institute’s Campus Placements process called ‘MICAlibre’, making an average of 2 offers per student for the batch of 161 students. Out of the 161 students of the batch, 3 opted out from the placement process.

The average annual package offered at the campus was Rs 9.20 lakh this year, an increase of 8 per cent over last year’s average package of Rs 8.5 lakh, the institute said.  There were 6 offers at the highest salary level of Rs.19.6 lakh per annum this year, which was marginally higher than last year’s single offer at Rs 19.5 lakh.

A total of 19 students received PPO and lateral offers this year with an average salary of Rs 11.75 lakh.

“The largest chunk of recruiters came from Consulting, Media and Advertising companies, closely followed by FMCG, Digital/e-commerce, Automobiles, BFSI, Entertainment and Retail. Government/PSUs like ONGC made their presence, as also companies from Sports, Gaming, Entertainment/Events, Technology/ITES, Watches & Jewellery sectors,” the institute said.

Commenting on placements this year, Dr. Nagesh Rao, President & Director, MICA, said, “The industry, across verticals, is attaching a premium to the value that MICAn’s bring in, especially in their ability to focus on innovative, creative solutions and multiple bottom-lines - with equal emphasis on financial, cultural and human quotients.”

“MICA has also stayed ahead of most in its curriculum development relevant to industry’s needs. It’s the only B-School offering a specialization in Marketing Research. This year, a new specialization, ‘Digital Communications Management’ is being offered to the incoming batch, besides other existing ones in Brand, Advertising & Media Management,” he added.
