CAT 2013 Day five first session is over. Quantitative section along with Logical Reasoning was very calculation intensive while Verbal and Data Interpretation were easy. This article brings you the analysis of the first session of CAT day five.
Quant was surprisingly lengthy. I had maximum questions from trigonometry and circles and none from P&C and geometry. Verbal was easy for me though and I attempted 24 questions in verbal section

Today was the fifth day of CAT 2013 exam. The first session for Day 5 on Monday, October 21, 2013 got over this afternoon at 1.00 PM. MBAUniverse.com editorial team was present on many centers in New Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and spoke to students for their first reaction and feedback. According to the students, Quantitative section along with Logical Reasoning was very calculation intensive while Verbal and Data Interpretation were easy.

Swati, a test taker from New Delhi present at the Noida test centre said, “Quant was very time consuming and there was a lot of calculation to do in every question. LR was similar and it was very confusing.”

Shardool Rastogi from Noida shared his feedback and said, “Quant was surprisingly lengthy. I had maximum questions from trigonometry and circles and none from P&C and geometry. Verbal was easy for me though and I attempted 24 questions in verbal section.”

Abhishek Tiwari from Greater Noida had a similar test experience and said, “Verbal section was easy though one of the RC passages was tough to understand as it was of Shakespeare. LR had a repeat of previous year question. Quant was tricky.”

CAT 2013 Day five first Session Sectional Analysis:

Quantitative Ability: Calculation intensive and Time consuming
Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from Trigonometry, Circles and Algebra. Permutation & Combination along with Geometry was missing in several candidates’ question set. Rests of the questions were from the other known topics such as Functions, number system, Mensuration, Time & Speed & Distance etc. Most of the questions were time consuming and need a lot of calculations.

Data Interpretation:  Easy in difficulty level
DI questions were termed as easy by many candidates. DI questions were mainly based on   column graphs and pie charts. Venn diagram was not present in many question sets.

Verbal Ability: Easy in difficulty level
Verbal Ability was termed as easy and below average in difficulty level by many aspirants of first session on Day five. Para jumbles had the maximum question. Every other topic like vocabulary, Fill in the blanks, out of context, sentence correction, etc had equal representations in the question set.

In RC there were total of 9 questions for 3 passages. One of the passages was tricky and tough to understand as it was quoted out of one of the Shakespeare’s writings.

Logical Reasoning: Tricky and Calculation intensive
The Logical Reasoning questions were hailed as tricky and very lengthy by many aspirants of Day 5 first session. Questions were based on Logical Matching, Binary logic and blood relations.

Few students who also gave CAT 2012 claimed that one of the LR questions was a repeat of CAT 2012.
