Even as over two lakh aspirants were expecting a googly or two, Common Admission Test (CAT) for IIMs threw no real surprises this year.

That's the general feeling MBAUniverse.com got from students and experts across the country.

With a total of 75 questions, the exam pattern was same as last year. There were 25 questions each in three sections: Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability and Data Interpretation. The number of questions, which was 90 in 2005, was reduced to 75 in 2006. In 2004, it was 123, while in 2003 there were 150 questions.

Each question had five options to choose from with four marks assigned to each correct answer, and 1 mark deleted for incorrect answer.

Says Career Forum's Chairperson Ms Sujata Khanna, "CAT 2007 was similar to CAT 2006 in terms of the overall pattern, number of questions, marking scheme etc."

Nearly 2.3 lakh students took exam in 23 cities across the country for admission into elite B-schools. Nearly 1.8 lakh students had appeared for the test last year. About 35,000 students from Delhi region appeared for the test.

MBAUniverse.com will continue to cover CAT 07 with expert chats and features. Stay tuned.
