In a unique initiative, two AACSB Accredited institutions, TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) and University of Dubai (UD), have joined hands to offer an 18 months MBA programme to Indian students. The program offers placement assurance in Dubai and is open only for 20 candidates in the first year.
Sharing the similarities, USPs, key features of this collaboration, Dr R C Natarajan, Director, TAPMI Manipal sees a number of positives with a promising future for Global MBA education. Edited excerpts of the interview:
Q. TAPMI has tied up with University of Dubai for offering a joint MBA program. Let us more about it.
MBA of University of Dubai (UD) and TAPMI PGDM program are both accredited internationally by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), USA. UD and TAPMI have joined hands to provide Indian students a value-added 18-month MBA and assured career placement in Dubai after passing out of the program. UD MBA Program is designed to prepare candidates for successful careers in organizations and to face three key challenges: Managing the Organization, Making Choices, and Making a difference in the organization.
Q. What is the rationale behind partnering with UD?
We see a lot of Synergy between the two institutions and hence this partnership. The University of Dubai (UD) is a student-centered institution whose primary mission is providing quality education. With its rigorous but real-world curriculum, UD students are groomed to be leaders of tomorrow, whatever their background.

Q. Tell us more about University of Dubai?
UD was set up by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and hence has close links with the Industry. Its programs are one of the top accredited universities in the UAE – professional and bold, with community, innovation and diversity permeating all its activities.
University of Dubai degree programs have been accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in the UAE as well as by the best international accreditation bodies in the world: AACSB International, USA, for the College of Business Administration and ABET for the Computing and Information Systems program.
Q. Will the entire programme be pursued at UD campus?
Students who are enrolled into this programme do their first year of MBA at TAPMI Manipal along with TAPMI students. On successful completion of the first year students go to University of Dubai where they will do their internship and the second year courses. On successful completion at UD, they will earn MBA degree from University of Dubai.
Q. What will be the placement prospects on completion of this programme?
There is assured Placement for students of this programme and the students will be placed in suitable jobs in Dubai after the completion.
Q. What is the eligibility for admission 2014 to this MBA Programme? What is the intake?
For admission 2014, we are keeping a maximum intake of 20 students. Candidates with a 4 year degree or post graduate degree from recognized Universities in India are eligible for the programme. Candidates must also have a valid TOEFL or IELTS score to be eligible for this programme
Q. What’s the fee structure for MBA 2014?
The total course fee is approximately Rs. 20 lakhs, of which Rs. 4.50 lakhs will be payable to TAPMI and the rest will include payment to UD, Visa Charges, hostel/stay at Manipal/Dubai.
