MBA/PGDM aspirants who have taken CAT 2014 but in their assessment find it difficult to cross the hurdle to get into IIMs need not lose heart. A good opportunity still exists for them in the shape of XAT 2015 where registration is open till November 30, 2014.

MBA aspirants can very well explore admission opportunity in top rated B schools like XLRI, SPJIMR, XIMB, IMT, XISS and many others by appearing in Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2015. A candidate after appearing in CAT 2014, if has the slightest doubt of not getting a high percentile, can still prepare for XAT 2015 and can get admission opportunity in XLRI and other top B schools who accept XAT scores along with the CAT scores.

As IIMs do not accept XAT scores, XLRI also doesn’t accept CAT scores. But there are number of such good B schools like SPJIMR, XIMB, IMT, LIBA that accept both CAT and XAT scores. More B schools than in earlier years have got associated to XAT 2015 and shortlist the candidates by providing equal weightage to both the exams.

Last one week to realize your dream

XLRI is the XAT conducting body of XAT 2015. The Last date of registration and application process for XAT 2015 is November 30, 2014. It is an online process and is the first step to be eligible to appear in XAT 2015.
 
XAT 2015 will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of XAMI on January 4, 2015, the first Sunday of New year of 2015. XLRI has been conducting Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for the last 60 years at All India level.

XAT is aimed to select the most appropriate candidates who wish to pursue management education. Apart from XLRI, XAT scores will be used by 10 member institutes and 110 other B schools. XAT 2015 will be the shortlisting criteria in these B schools for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes for 2015-17 batch.

XAT 2015: 15 thousand seats in 120 B schools

MBA/PGDM aspirants for 2015-17 batch cannot afford missing the XAT 2015 registration and application. Registration to XAT 2015 is the gateway to admission in flagship PGDM  programmes in XLRI and other 10 XAMI member B schools and more than 110 private B schools for batch 2015-17.

Following are the 11 premium B schools who are the member institutes where you are eligible to apply and can seek admission on the basis of XAT 2015 scores

Xavier Labour and Relations Institute  (XLRI) Jamshedpur; Xavier Institute of Management-Xavier University, Bhubaneshwar (XIMB); Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) Ranchi; Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore; Xavier Institute of Management & Research (XIMR), Mumbai; Xavier Institute of Management, Jabalpur (XIMJ); Loyola Institute of Business Administration(LIBA) Chennai; Mount carmel Institute of Management, (MCIM) Bangalore; St. Francis Institute of Management and Research (SFIMR), Mumbai; St. Joseph's College of Business Administration (SJCBA), Bangalore; St.Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology(SAIMIT), Mangalore
 
There are also 110 private B schools who will accept XAT 2015 scores. They include SPJIMR, Mumbai; IMT Ghaziabad, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Dubai; TAPMI Manipal; IFIM Bangalore; IFMR Chennai; VIT Vellore; IILM Gurgaon, Greater Noida; NDIM New Delhi.

XAT 2015: How to Register and apply

Registration for XAT 2015 was started on August 12, 2014 and will end on November 30, 2014. Registration for XAT 2015 is a 7 easy step process. The process is easy but before proceeding for it, understand it well. It is necessary to be patient while completing the XAT 2015 registration.  

Step-1
Please visit  xatonline.net.in. You will find the home page with many items of information. Please click on icon ‘register’ in the upper line below the Heading “Xavier Aptitude Test” and proceed registering your profile first.

Step-2
Fill preliminary information, enter a password of your choice and submit it. After submission of these details you will receive XAT ID on your registered email.

This will enable you to login with your XAT ID and password next time.

Application form completion

Step-3
Login to XAT account and fill educational and other details and choose the test city. To get the preferred centre and city, it’s better to register early.

Step-4
XAT 2015 aspirants have three options of paying the XAT 2015 fee namely,  on-line, in cash or through Demand draft.  The fee for XAT 2015 is Rs. 1000.00 (Rupees One Thousand only) for all applicants, please note. There is no concessionary fee to apply for XAT 2015.

Select Mode of Payment: One of the three modes

Mode 1:  Online Payment Gateway
XAT 2015 aspirants can pay online through VISA/Master Credit/Debit Cards. American Express Card is inadmissible. If you are an account holder of IDBI you can pay through IDBI Net banking.

Mode 2: Cash Payment
Applicant has to take a print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip, visit nearest IDBI bank and make the payment thereat.

Mode 3: Demand Draft
Applicant has to get a DD made in favour of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT" payable at Jamshedpur.

Please note that Applicant paying through Mode 2 & 3 should update the payment details in the registration page. Failure to do so, such candidates will not be allowed to upload their photo and signature.

Step-5
Upload Photograph and Signature: Applicant is required to upload his/her scanned digital photograph and signature as per the following instructions.

File size and name
All XAT 2015 aspirants are required to upload their scanned (digital) photographs and signature. The file size of the photograph and signature must not be more than 50KB for each file. The Online application system will not allow uploading files larger than 50 KB size. The photographs and signatures are to be uploaded only in ‘Jpeg’ format. The preferred file names should be ‘photo.jpeg’ and ‘sign.jpeg’ for photograph and signature respectively

Type of photograph to be uploaded
Take your recent colour passport size photograph in digital format. The picture should be taken against a light/white background. In case the face on the photograph is not clear, your application is liable to be rejected.

Uploading the signature
XAT 2015 aspirant should sign ( please don’t use Capital letters) on a white paper with a black ink pen. Then you should scan the signature in 200 dpi (dots per inch) scanner resolution settings and the file size should be less than 50 kb in jpeg format.

In case the size is bigger, crop the image of the signature in MS Paint or any other Photo Editor to reduce the size. Please ensure that only the signature portion is cropped and not the entire A4 paper on which you have signed.

Ensure that confirmation is received
After uploading the photo and signature successfully, the XAT 2015 will receive a system generated confirmation page consisting pre-printed photograph and signature of the applicant on the screen.

How to make sure about the size of file

Please follow the undernoted steps to ensure that the photograph and signature are within 50KB each.

-If you have a digital photograph or signature, open the same in MS Paint by right clicking the photograph

-Press Ctrl + W ,a window will open which will have an option 'resize by %'. Here enter anything between 10 to 50% and save the file with an extension .jpeg.

-Check for the size of the file in 'properties'. If the file size is still higher than 50 KB, once again open in paint and resize it to bring it down to less than 50KB.

-Repeat this process till the file size is less than 50 KB.

-Please save this file with the file Name as mentioned above as photo.jpeg and sign.jpeg
 
Step-6
Please print XAT Confirmation page for your reference. In future for all correspondence with XAT office, quote your XAT ID.

Step-7
Applicants who make payments through Demand Draft need to send their DD along with the confirmation page within fifteen days from the issuance of DD  to XAT office i.e. XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur- 831001 

Applicants who have made the payments through Cash, IDBI internet banking or credit/ debit cards are not required to send the Confirmation page to XAT Office.

Register early to avoid last minute problems

Last days in registration process for XAT 2015 might be filled with technical glitches due to rush of the applicants. It is advisable to spare some time out of the busy schedule and complete the XAT 2015registration and application process at the earliest. It is not a good idea to wait for Nov 30, 2014 to register for XAT 2015.
