Management exams are all about testing the candidate’s skills in Quantitative, English and Decision Making areas. XLRI Admission Test (XAT), which will be held on January 6, also includes a separate section called Essay Writing.

According to XLRI, The XAT is of multiple choice type which will be of 2 hours duration followed by an essay test which is of 20 minutes duration. So, if last year’s pattern is repeated, you will have 20 minutes to write a logical and clear-headed essay. Talking about XAT, Fr N Casimir Raj S J, Former Director of XLRI Jamshedpur earlier told MBAUniverse.com, “XAT has three objective-type test areas: verbal ability, quantitative ability and decision-making ability. Students also have to write essays on a topic based on current value systems.”

According to Fr Casimir Raj, essay is used at the interview stage to know more about the value system of a candidate. Said Fr Casimir Raj, “The essays are considered more during the interview stage. We read these essays before taking the interview. With these essays we try to check the value systems of the aspirants.”

On the essay format, Mr Sandeep Manudhane, Founder Chairman, PT Education told MBAUniverse.com, “A test taker must be prepared to write the Essay too ... which has been a regular and a unique feature for XAT over the past many years.”
