CAT Score Scam: MDI may revise merit list as 5 students identified on roll: MDI Director

Amid CAT Score Scam hitting top B-schools admissions, Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon Director Dr Mukul P Gupta has told MBAUniverse.com that the institute may revise its admission list after 5 students were identified on roll from the list of 80 CAT IDs with inflated scores.

The MDI Director also confirmed to MBAUniverse.com that the institute would initiate action which may result in a fresh merit list for the admission 2013-15.

We know that 5 candidates out of these 80 are on our roll, said Dr Mukul P Gupta, adding that, the institute will take action on the basis of correct score which it will receive from CAT authorities soon.
Action would be based on the corrected scores that we receive. This could result in a revision of our merit/admissions list, he said.

MBAUniverse.com was first to report this scam on June 24, 2013 at 11 AM. After MBAUniverse.com published the report, some of the top B-schools have already initiated action.

The unfolding details of CAT score scandal and emerging facts have revealed that many of the 80 candidates with inflated CAT scores have already entered the final selection list of different B-schools even as most of them figured in GD/PI short list of multiple top B-schools like FMS-Delhi, DMS-IIT Delhi, NITIE, IIT Roorkee, FMS-BHU, MDI etc.

Earlier, in a shocking revelation, IIMs had admitted that CAT scorecards available officially to non-IIMs for admission year 2012-13 have been tampered with inflated scores of some candidates. According to IIMs, scorecards of as many as 80 testing IDs available on official CAT website have been found inflated as compared to the actual scores available with IIMs in the master datasheet of CAT 2012 scorecards.

The MDI Director, however, said that the institute is still to verify the total count of candidates, with inflated CAT Scores, that entered their admission process through GD/PI.

Shortlist for GD/PI was quite big and we have not ascertained the total number of such candidates who participated in our GD/PI, he said.

Terming it as a failure of the CAT authorities and IIMs, Dr Gupta said that a credible and just process for recovery from the failure is now required, to re-instate the faith of B-schools and MBA Aspirants on the prestigious and most respected MBA entrance test.

Meanwhile, affected B-schools like FMS Delhi, NITIE and others are also in the process of verifying their admission data to find the candidates with inflated ID admitted to their institute. However, they are yet to come out with their approach on further actions.
