IMI Applications up by 17 percent; one of the 50 aspirants may get admission across campuses

International Management Institute (IMI) Delhi has registered more than 17percent increase in its applications for Admission 2014.

In contrast to slow down in number of MBA/PGDM admission aspirants in various B schools, number of applicants in International Management Institute has gone up by more than 17 percent than last year. According to Dr. Pritam Singh, Director General, IMI We have received total more than 14000 applications than last year. Although the ratio of applications to applicants is more than the last year, candidates stand a good chance for admission across the three campuses of IMI offering number of management programmes.

Application process closed on due date

IMI closed its application process on January 27, 2014. The institute is among the important B schools that did not extend the last date to apply for admission 2014. The number of applicants however surpassed a great volume by the time the process was closed on due date.

The short listing criteria

IMI accepts CAT and GMAT scores. Candidates who scored a percentile above 90 in CAT 2013 and a score of 650+ in GMAT can expect to be among the shortlisted ones provided they fulfill other eligibility norms and have good academic record.

IMI has three campuses across the country Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata with a total capacity of 480 seats offering full time different PGDM programmes. While Delhi campus has maximum number of seats divided in different programmes other campuses also have a good number to accommodate the admission seekers. Candidates may explore their chances in accordance with their preference.

IMI Delhi has 180 seats in PGDM; 60 seats in PGDHRM; 60 seats in PGDM (Banking and Insurance). IMI Kolkata has an intake of 120 in PGDM and IMI Bhubaneswar has 60 seats in PGDM

Components of final admission round and key dates

Written Ability and Personal Interview round at IMI begins on February 19, 2014 at Delhi campus and on March 7, 2014 at outstation centres. The final admission round may continue till March 30, 2014. Candidates can request to change the date for final admission round but such request can be entertained only for once.

Psychometric test replaces GD

To focus more on managerial and leadership skill, IMI has replaced GD by a 15-20 minutes Psychometric test followed by personal interview. Replying to the queries raised by MBAUniverse.com in regard to various aspects in final admission round at International Management Institute, Prof. Prashant Gupta, Associate Professor and Chairman (Admissions) replied Psychometric testing is also part of interview process rather than GD.

Know about the Psychometric test

The 15-20 minutes Psychometric test w

ill be paper based. It will contain the behavior based questions to test the decision taking ability of a candidate in a particular situation. The test is close to a situation analysis and decision making test taken together.Varying decisions can be taken in a situation but the important is to approach it in a positive manner and devise the right course of action. It will reflect the various personality traits of a candidate.

Final results

IMI will take care to declare the final results in 3 to 4 weeks from the close of final admission round based on weightages awarded to CAT/GMAT score; performance in academics, work experience; performance in Psychometric test and personal interview .
