IIM Visakhapatnam, Amritsar, Sirmaur, Jammu, Bodhgaya, Sambalpur to finalize admission in May 2017: Expect higher intake

Except IIM Nagpur which has not yet published its admission policy for PGP 2017-19, all the other 6 newest IIMs have announced their admission policy with minimum required CAT 2016 cut offs. While IIM Jammu and IIM Sirmaur do not propose to conduct the GD-PI round for admission to 2017-19 batch, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya and IIM Visakhapatnam have made it clear that they will shortlist the candidates for PI – WAT round once they receive the confirmation of interest from the eligible candidates.

IIM Sambalpur is yet to announce its further process after shortlisting the candidates at 1^st stage. IIM Nagpur has not yet announced its updated admission policy and schedule for the final admission round nor has clarified whether it would be conducting the PI-WAT round or would prefer to make final admission offer without it as it announced last year.

Process to confirm interest begins

The newest IIMs have started sending e mails to the eligible candidates to re-confirm their interest in respective IIMs to enable them to proceed further. The candidates need to reconfirm their interest in said IIMs and ensure that thr process is completed within the given time frame as prescribed by each IIM.

Admission Process in May 2017

It is expected that final admission process on prescribed parameters of these 7 newest IIMs would begin in the 1^st - 2^nd week of May 2017 and would be over in a short period. The final admission result is expected to be out in the last week of May or in the first week of June 2017.

How to register and apply

IIMs accept only CAT scores. Accordingly you need to enter your CAT 2016 User ID and the Email ID for registration. Then you will receive an email consisting of a password for filling-in the Application Form. The form is short and can be completed in a few minutes.

2 step application process

You need to enter your CAT User ID and the Password received after Registration in Steps 1 and 2. When you are logged in, your data (Name, Gender, Category, Email, Mobile number, CAT Total Score) will appear on the screen.

Enter academic record

You should enter your Class 10 and Class 12 aggregate percentage marks. For computing the percentage of marks obtained in Class 10 and Class 12, the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the mark sheet/grade sheet would be considered irrespective of whether the Board considers them for calculation of percentage.

Enter work experience

Please enter your work experience till March 31, 2017 in completed months. Only managerial work experience after graduation will be considered. Training/Project work/work done as an integral part of curricular requirement will not be considered. You will receive an acknowledgement after you have submitted your Application Form.

CAT score cut offs at 7 newest IIMs

It is expected that these new IIMs could offer admission below this CAT 2016 score if the candidate has excellent academics, academic diversity, gender diversity and work experience.

Please note that any false information will result in cancellation of your candidature at any stage of the admission process and even after securing the final admission at IIM Amritsar; IIM Bodh Gaya; IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Jammu, IIM Sirmaur. The details about final admission process for PGP 2017-19 are yet to be announced by IIM Nagpur and IIM Sambalpur.

Both IIM Amritsar and IIM BodhGaya have already participated in WAT & PI process coordinated by IIM Rohtak in the month of February-March 2017 for 9 IIMs.

The newest IIMs started operation in 2015 with their maiden PGP 2015-17 batch. IIM Amritsar has already increased its batch size from 60 to 105 which may increase further this year. Other six IIMs are content with their intake of 60 students although they may also increase the intake this year a little.
