Your 100 percentile in CAT does not make sure that you will get admission in IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore or IIM Calcutta. This is exactly what has happened in the admission results declared by IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta. However, the CAT 2016 topper with 100 percentile has been able to convert IIM Bangalore.
All the 3 top IIMs-A, B, C have declared their final admission result for PGP 2017-19 batch and have sent admission offers to the selected candidates on their registered e-mails.
In fact the 1st stage shortlisting raises hope to get admission in top IIMs namely IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore or Calcutta. During the WAT & PI round, different admission parameters with different weightage areas offer admission to the candidates with CAT percentile as low as 98 or 89 while the CAT toppers with 100 percentile are not even placed in waitlist.

IIM Ahmedabad admission result for PGP 2017-19 is out with many CAT 2016 toppers with 100 percentile not finding their names in the admission list. One of such CAT toppers with 100 percentile Avidipto Chakraborty has not been offered admission by IIM Ahmedabad, sources reveal.
The message sent by IIM Ahmedabad reads ‘We regret to inform you that you have not been selected or wait-listed for admission to PGP (2017-2019 batch) IIMA.’
IIM Bangalore
IIM Bangalore has declared its final admission result for PGP 2017-19 and has sent the admission offers to selected candidates on their registered mail id. Selected candidates can now also check their admission status for IIM Bangalore on its website by login with their CAT 2016 user ID (Application number) and the registered E-mail ID.
Although many 100 percentilers in CAT 2016 are also not selected by IIM Bangalore due to its different weightage awarded to other parameters in admission process, Avidipto Chakraborty has been offered admission to its flagship PGP 2017-19 programme with the message “Congratulations! You have been Offered admission under General Merit category The offer letter and relevant enclosures will be sent to you by email and post separately.”

IIM Calcutta: No admission offer to 100 percentiler
Following its admission parameters, IIM Calcutta has also not offered admission to the CAT topper with 100 percentile and has sent the regret message without mentioning the topper’s name “We regret to inform you that your name does not appear in the admission list of PGP-PGDM, 2017-19 Batch of IIM Calcutta. Thank you for your interest in IIM Calcutta.”

CAT topper also scored 770 in GMAT
Avidipto Chakraborty, apart from scoring 100 percentile in CAT 2016 has also scored 770 in GMAT and proposes to explore other opportunities also.
Plans to go for deferred admission
Avidipto plans to opt for deferred admission as he has been offered lucrative job from McKinsey & Company and is looking to take the opportunity. Accordingly, despite being offered admission by IIM Bangalore he may not join the flagship PGP programme.
Since he has got job offer from his dream company McKinsey & Company, he may opt for deferred admission policy and will take the admission later as he doesn't want to leave this job opportunity.
IIM Ahmedabad: Dream campus
Avidipto preferred IIM Ahmedabad to pursue his PGP but there also he wanted to opt for deferred admission. It has not been confirmed whether he would join IIM Bangalore or will go after his new role at McKinsey & Company.
IIMs have shown the admission status details only for those candidates who are offered admission, or, are Waitlisted.
