On the cards: India’s first conference on Quality Management

The Institute for Technology and Management (ITM) and the National Centre for Quality Management (NCQM) have announced India’s first International Conference on Quality Management Practice 2007, to be held on 16th and 17th August in Mumbai.

The event theme is “Quality Management Practice” and the conference aims at creating a platform for exchange of knowledge.

The following be sub-themes are going to be discussed at the conference: Organizational Excellence, Quality Management Practices in Organizations and Applications of Quality, and Reliability Engineering Tools and Techniques. Papers have been invited from members of industry and academia across the world. (The papers may relate to start-of-the-art modeling and applications, case studies, country-specific experiences, international comparisons, and quality tools and techniques.) The last date for paper submission is 1 April 2007.

Talking about the event, the organizers say, “Quality management is very critical due to ever increasing competition and technological innovations. Attempts are being made by professionals both in industry and academia to evolve, design, develop and implement innovative quality management systems and processes across the world.”

NCQM was established in 1985 by a group of eminent industrialists and professionals as a non-profit organization devoted to promote quality at a national level. It is a society registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, and is headquartered in Mumbai with branches in Ajmer, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Rajkot.

ITM was established in 1991 and has seven campuses across the country, offering quality education in engineering and management.
