Pearl School of Business announces admission to second batch of Doctor of Business Administration Programme for Executives

Gurgaon based Pearl School of Business, in partnership with Asian Institute of Technology's School of Management, has announced admission to second batch of doctoral-level programme in India, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), for Executives.

Application to the programme can be made till November 24, 2008 and programme commences in January 2009, informs Pearl. 

PSB-AIT DBA is a doctoral-level programme designed for senior executives. On completion of the programme, successful students would be awarded DBA degree of Asian Institute of Technology.

Says Pearl School of Business, "The PSB-AIT DBA offers the art and craft of management research to the professional managers, administrators, owners and entrepreneurs. It aims to enhance their knowledge of advanced management theories and build their research skills to significantly improve their intellectual capabilities, strategic thinking and ability to investigate complex managerial issues for generating innovative ideas, leading to their organizations' superior competencies, performance and corporate leadership. The PSB-AIT DBA is developed and delivered by world-class internationally reputed faculty."

The DBA programme has two academic parts. First, it comprises research methodology courses and advance courses in management. Second, each participant, after successfully completing course work, is require to work on an applied research topic to write a dissertation and defend it.

In the first batch there are 8 participants from various backgrounds, including COO, Director-Business Development & Consultant, General Manager, E-governance Head from World Bank and entrepreneurs. Three of the participants fly from Mumbai, Banglore and Hyderabad every weekend to attend the DBA classes. 

A DBA participant from first batch and COO of Planet Retail, Mr. Sameer Prasad, says, "Realizing the importance and usefulness of the DBA programme, the students opine that the AIT-PSB DBA curriculum is interdisciplinary and integrative. The required course work is structured into three perspectives of Research Methodology, Knowledge Building and Research Specialization including Dissertation writing. There is perhaps no other programme that can equate this programme".

"The PSB-AIT DBA Program is a doctoral program for senior managers with a multidisciplinary approach. The program blends management theory and case studies with applied research which is based on application of knowledge and experience", adds Mr. Shashank Ojha, Senior e Government Specialist, Policy Divison – Global ICT Department, World Bank, a current DBA participant. 

Applicants to the programme should be MBA or Executive MBA from recognised academic institutions with a minimum of 10 years work experience. Non MBA/E-MBA 's with 15 years work experience may be considered for admission .The course fee for the entire programme is Rs. 10,00,000.
